Right now I am listening to ...

I picked up this album by chance while browsing in Landmark. Has become a must listen every night before I sleep. Consists of the following Raagas, each rendered beautifully by the artists.

  • Raga Bhairavi by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan
  • Raga Des by Buddhadev Das Gupta
  • Raga Des Malhar by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan
  • Raga Kausi Bhairav by Allauddin Khan
  • Raga Khamaj by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan
  • Raga Malkauns by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan
  • Raga Piloo by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan

A good listen for lovers of Hindustani Music.

Cheers

I usually keep away from remixes as I feel they murder the original numbers. But, at the sinstance of my niece I came across this 2 disc album called 'Baahon Mein Chalke Aao'. I was surprised as some of the numbers made me tap my feet and sing along. Some of the artistes such as Shaan and Desi Boyz have mixed traditional Hindi film music with some good English Lyrics and even English Pop songs. Quite brave, I must say

  • Mere Naseeb Mein
  • Hum Bewafa
  • Jaa Re Jaa
  • Mere Khwabon Mein Tum

Simply superb music. Extremely pleasant. Contains the following tracks:

  • Suttum Vizhi
  • Punguyil
  • Theruvil Varano
  • Ponnin Oli
  • Enneramum
  • Hari Tum Haro
  • Sarvam Brahma Mayam

It is amazing to listen to Carnatic Kritis and Meera Bhajans accompanied by a Piano! Very well recorded also. Sounds divine on a good system. The music composition by Anil Srinivasan is very good indeed. Sikkil has a very deep voice, and when he goes down to low notes, his voice can really stress your system.

Cheers

sir, your descriptions are exemplary to all us members, as to what a post should contain (compared to what we do in just u/l the artwork with nuthin else). thank you so much.

Hai Moser,

I think "Tango in the night" is another fantastic album from FWM.
Have you listened to that, I like it very much.

Thanks,

N Murali.

Oh yes sir. FM is one of my favorite groups. I believe I have all their albums, some 30+ at last count. Tusk and Rumors are my personal favorites though. Keep playing them very often even now after these many years.

They just don't have musicians making such music anymore...

Been Listening to this album for the last few days. Though a bit heavy, the music is good as is the singing. My favourites are Socha Hai, Pichle Saat Dinon Meim, and Rock On. The playing of the electric guitar is really good and reminds me of some of the hard metal I used to listen to when I was young. The lyrics of Pichle Saat Dinon is really cute and talks about a set of guys who are more interested in music than just ogling at girls.

"Meri Laundry Ka Ek Bill, Ek Aadhi Padi Novel Ta Ra Ta Ta Ta .Ta Ra Ta Ta Ta
Ek Ladki Ka Phone Number, Mere Kaam Ka Ek Paper Ta Ra Ta Ta Ta .Ta Ra Ta Ta Ta
Mere Taash Se Heart Ka King, Mera Ek Chandi Ka Ring
Pichhle Saat Dino Mein Maine Khoya
Kabhi Khud Pe Hansa Main Aur Kabhi Khud Pe Roya"

Cheers
