Right now I am listening to ...

Doreswamy_Iyengar_2_1233553986_music.jpg

A genius and one of the best exponents of the Veena. I am listening to two albums:

1. Maestro Alive released by Kosmic. In this Doraiswamy is accompanied by PG Lakshmi Narayana on the Mridangam. This contains Tyagara Kirtanais and includes

Tera Teeyakaeada - Gowlipattu
Rama Bhakthu - Suddabangala
Eti Janma - Varali
Shanthamulekha - Sama
Needayarada - Vasanta Bhairavi
Bhavanutha - Mohanam

2. V. Doreswamy Itengar Live at Music Academy - 1984. He is accompanied on the Mridgangam by Kuttalam R. Viswanatha Iyer, on the Veena by D. Balakrishna, and on the Ghatam by KS Manjunathan. This album contains

Neer Nhajan - Nayaki
Naadadina Maata - Janranjani
Entanine - Mukhari
Gangaye Vasandhara - Amirkalyani
Sri Raman - Narayanagowla
Eswari Rajeswari - Abheri.

I heard Doreswamy Iyengar when I was some 12 years old in a recital in Pune. It was kind of 'Love At First Hear'.

Cheers

watched the michael jackson memorial last night. reminded me of the many hits that he had.

Yes, I did too. It was a really poignant and moving Service. I realise now how important Michael Jackson's music is to me over the years, from his Jackson 5 days. There is something really solid about it - I mean, great melodies, super beat and sometimes, even great lyrics. What a super star.

Apart from these two i also like Go your own way, gypsy, dreams, sara,Dont stop.

Been listening to JOURNEY. Some of the albums (Raised on Radio,Infinity,Escape,Frontiers) are good. Good old fashioned Rock. If you guys like Fleetwood Mac u would possibly like Journey too.

Particia barber - Cafe blue. (Great recording from Premonition Records)

Rumours was probably their best Album.Behind the Mask and Tusk are also great.

just listened to the sample music on amazon. very good fusion music. is it available in india. hows the recording

Sorry for the late response AFJ, Indeed the recording is good. I had bought this CD long back. Not sure if it is still available but being popular it should be.

You can also try Shakti and Remember Shakti albums. They too are good.
