Right now I am listening to ...

that's really good to hear! not many jazz afficionados around :)
going by the artistes we've mentioned so far, here's something i'm sure you'll like: Saint Germain Cafe
(hope i've done that right!)
it's a very cool blend of jazz and electronica; some call it nu-jazz. if you've heard tourist by st.germain, you'll know what i'm talking about.
the entire series is pretty good. do let me know if you've heard this stuff before.

I think I remember hearing a few of their tracks but not the tracks themselves, will definitely try getting this album, if it's available in India. Thanks!

Gotan Project is awesome, have two albums from them La Revancha Del Tango and Luntico. Definitely recommended.

Tango and Electronica, now that's an intriguing combo. Any music based on Piazzolla and Barbieri's works should be tasty! Looks like I'm going to lose all the money I save for my system on music instead...

LOL! Still great music + average system is any day better than great system + average or even bad music.

Hi hifiashok
I have this album on vinyl. if interested tell me. But Pl. give me time to record it. To digitize songs I will have to connect TT to PC.
Regards
Hiten

can i request you for the name of the album. the way i remember it was 'east meets west'. it would be easier for me to find it.

piazzolla keeps turning up in unusual places. check out al di meola's 2 world sinfonia albums. and there's one by yo yo ma, though i forget the name.

btw moserw, have you heard gotan project's sample of chet baker? way cool.

Agreed, but the following equation is my current status:

Lots of great music + no system=

Dude! I know I asked you for recommendations but I think I'll un-subscribe from this thread now, else I'll be on a Ramen diet for the next 2 quarters! :ohyeah:

P.S: I think you meant this one by Ma. I have it and it's totally magical, sexy even! And I'd love to hear Gotans interpretation of Chet Baker's works!

this album is really good when youre auditioning stuff. infact most of his songs. sweet highs coming out from the horns, really low down bass from strings, forward and full vocals, pretty much an orchestra backing him up which shows you the level of complexity your system can handle

Totally agree! I have most of his albums and more than auditioning, I like his style of singing.
