Nice picks. I have the Frampton 25th Anniversary SACD (poor man's vinyl!) and it is a fairly decent recording. But I am sure your vinyl captures the energy of the concert far better. I heard his more recent "Fingerprints" album and was disappointed...
You are so right on this. I've heard this concert on different digital formats, but I just wasn't taken aback like I was today. I found this record for $2 in a used records store near my house. It was a double LP and the vinyl looked pristine as if it wasn't played that much. The cover was a little worn, but I brought it home and put it aside. Just this morning I took it out, gave it a cleaning on the VPI RCM and put on the first side. The added bonus was that the record was completely flat with no warps whatsoever. As if it had been stored for all these years.
The energy captured in the record was mind boggling. It was truly an immersive 3D experience. Such a high quality recording done way back then. Its unbelievable that digital is soooooooooooo far away still in this day and age.
Happy listening my friend.
