Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce myself. Does anyone know how i can fix my Rotel amplifier? It's a BX4 and a friend used to smoke in a room where this amp was sat. It now crackles on the stereo input very badly. Any information is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Buy some servisol
Turn off your amplifier
Wait for a little while
Open up your amplifier,
spray the servisol sparingly into your controls (switches, volume controls)
Move them vigorously back and forth
put things back together again
search youtube for videos on how to use contact cleaner!

spray the CRC QD-Contact Cleaner to your will & satisfaction, preferably soak it in the CRC.
QD stands for quick dry so don't worry.
use a soft brush and clean it with a lint free cloth.
wait for 5 to 10 min and then switch on the AMP. it will sound the best.

Can you provide more information on what EXACTLY you mean by "crackles on the stereo input very badly"?

The sound crackles in the stereo input. I've found out as far as I know what is wrong with the amp. The glass fuses had blown so I am in the process of changing them. Also spraying the inside with WD-40 specialist fast drying contact cleaner. Sorry in reference to the advice for using servisol, I have got switch cleaner which did not work. There is many servisol sprays, I wasn't sure which one to buy. Thank you everyone who replied. Much appreciated.
