Hi,

I am currently looking for a satellite speakers for my rears instead of BS due to space constraint. My set up is as follows:

AVR - SR6009
Fronts - Pioneer FS-52
Center - Pioneer C22
Surrounds - Pioneer BS-22

Now I do have polk tsx 110B, but I do not have much space left behind the couch and hence looking for couple of satellite speakers which can do the rear speakers activity (for 7.1 coded movies) and also nicely sit at the back (behind the couch).

Shortlisted one's are Boston Acoustics XS-Satellite & Dayton Audio SAT-BK Satellite Speaker. Out of these two, which one would be a better choice ?

I missed to add JBL one in the shortlist.

Anything else to consider?

Thanks

I am also thinking in same lines, and currently have my eyes on wharfedale DFS bipole speakers. Check hifimart.com where you have some options

Best if you could find speakers having similar driver size and material as the Pioneer surrounds. Else the sound may be different.
Ideally have the same speaker for surround and rear.

Really compact ones would be BA Sound Ware XS.. I think with this speaker, you would also get wall mount kit, more over this could be tilted towards the listening position, so more flexibility than other bigger satellites you had listed...

Boston seems to be value for money, tiny and hope it does good job as rears, not sure about others... Somehow jbl one seems to be good as well... Confused between these two..

Space is the constraint, hence looking for small ones for surround back

A 4" driver does not necessarily mean a large cabinet. I had the same issue when I built my HT. I used Morel Soundspots and am completely satisfied with them. They may be a trifle expensive but well worth the small size.
Check these out and also see if you can find some other options with 4" drivers.

SoundSpot - Morel

I think JBL one is bigger in size than Boston... Between the two, i think Boston is compact and takes less space :)

I have seen the Boston, it is almost size of cricket ball..

Thanks for the links. It looks great. However since I am looking for a slightly lesser price between 5 to 7K, I feel boston fits the budget.

Thanks Nature. I saw this and even ordered through a different site (paytm) where I was getting it brand new in even lesser price.. But then cancelled it as I thought it would again be little bigger than what I want to squeeze between the window grill just few inches behind my couch.

as of now boston fits, I really have to keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't disappoint me much as I am only going to use it as my rears ...

Thanks all for suggestions.

Went with Boston satellite for surround back and it blended well with my space constraints. Ran Audyssey, and it set crossover at 200 and '0' level. Post that ran few sample scenes, was good over all and it fits my requirement.

The clamp provided along with the speakers was fragile and it broke while fitting only. But luckily I had few other mount with me which I had bought earlier. It fitted these boston and I could mount them on the window grill behind the couch.

Great.. Looks like build quality is not so good... How much for a pair of BA XS?

Strange that Audyssey set the crossover to 200Hz...:)

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
