Satellite speakers + 2 sub-woofers for stereo - Works?

Have been reading on room boundaries and the effect it has in untreated rooms..I would like to seek some clarity on the topic..

2 satellites (wall mounted) + 2 sub-woofers (in the front corner's of the room) subs on sides of the speakers, and symmetrically placed in the room is the scenario with bass management in the AVR..

Low freq below 250Hz seem to pose more challenges in the room... The sub/sat crossover freq seem to be vague generalization in most articles.. There is so much variation in crossover freq bet sat/sub from 60 - 150 Hz in thse articles.. Some say 60Hz is good, some say 100Hz is good..

Assuming one crosses the sat/sub at 100hz in AVR and uses dual subs to counter the room modes to some extent, there is till some bass left with speakers.. Say from 150 - 250 Hz.. Is the untreated room still prone to room modes in this freq?

Is it better to use a higher crossover, say 200Hz between sat/sub?

Appreciate your responses..
