Seating Distance for 4K

I sit about 9 feet away from a 77 inch screen. When I first shifted from a 65 inch 4K to a 77 inch 4K, the initial few hours were a bit disconcerting. But got used to it soon enough, and started loving the increased immersion. Iam not too sure, but I think even 85 inches could have been doable at my seating distance. But will wait for someone who has actually done it, to vouch for it .

And with eyesight corrected. While many of us in our late forties or later use prescription lens for reading, we don’t correct the smaller number we may have for mid/long distance - unless it grows to +1 when it starts becoming obvious. Happened with me. Only recently did I get a separate set of spectacles made for viewing TV and suddenly the pictures looked so much far better. And this is only a plasma. Can imagine how much more of a difference would corrected mid-distance vision make to viewing on 4K!

The THX recommended viewing distance is about 1 feet for every 10” of diagonal size. This gives you a cinematic 40 degrees FoV captured by just the tv.
So for a 70” TV the distance would be around 7 feet, which means this infographic isn’t that far off and the recommended distances are quite good.
I personally have my 85” TV around 10 feet from my eyes, and I wish I could go closer or had a 100” one. But 85” at 10 feet is just way way better than 65 or 75” at the same distance still.

I sit 7 feet from my 55 inch and love it.
I have my 65 incher 9 feet away from my seating position. Most of the times I feel it's a little small and could have gone for the next bigger one. Anyways, planning to get a 85 incher after few months at the same distance so this should be a real game changer.

Frankly I find it highly irritating to crane and twist my neck every time I want to shift the gaze from top of the screen to bottom or from left to right.
Tend to miss a lot of details happing in the other parts of the screen (Mostly happens left vs right).

How close do you sit?
I have 32" TV and I sit around 9' away - this is a quite comfortable setup.
What I posted earlier was about 67" screen about 8' away (experienced this at my friend's place) and frankly it was indeed annoying.
A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
