hi,
I got those stands from Magma. Made to order The top plate is slightly wider and deeper than the speaker and it has skirting screws.

Hi have you skrewed your bookshelf to the topplate or glued.
can you please send me the pics of your bookshelfs mounted to stand so that i can have a better understanding of how to go about, if its glued then no issues/

dont screw the bookshelves or drill etc..
Just apply some Blu tack Bostik ( about Rs 200 odd .. i think.. pls go for original australian make it possible) on the underside of the bookshelves and place the bookshelves on the stand . Please align the bookshelves so that the edges of the speakers and shatd are visually parallel.. and you are ready to go.
The speakers wont fall.. ( in normal use ). But for deliberate mishandling and unforeseen accidents.. we cant predict that can we ?
Just go with the Blu Tack ..

I have neither screwed or glued the speakers. They are quite heavy(more than 10kg/piece). I have just placed them on top. The extra width of the plate and the skirting screws ensure that it does not slide out of the top plate. My kids are yet to apply their full force but i have kept them in such way that they have not tried it yet.
I have this habit of experimenting with various speakers. So glue was not an option for me.
If you dont have kids in home, blue tac is the way to go.
fixing holes on the top plate generally serve only one of two purposes
1. they are either used to bolt the speaker to the stand - however this can only be done if the speaker has a provision for this , namely an insert with female threads . e.g some ushers
2. the fixing holes serve to locate inverted spikes or spheres for extreme isolation
However you should note inverted spikes will dig into your speaker base by 0.5mm
Also this is adviced only if you have no children or pets or maids that could knock off the speaker
Advisable only in dedicated listening environments
Blue tack is best to affix the speaker to the stand
Other means of coupling are anti skid neoprene or silicone gel pads

I had used 'poster tape' to secure bookshelf speakers on stands, with good results. I had used four squares of 1cm x 1cm each for four corners of each speaker.
This is sold as a roll of tape made of dense foam with both sides sticky.

I have just placed the speakers on the stand, not even blue-tack. And I do have small kids at home.
But I dont see much problem because the speakers as well as the stands are quite heavy and sturdy and wont fall if hit lightly. Ofcourse if somebody hits it with the intention of toppling then even blue tack wont help.
@Mods: Can you move this thread to the Speakers section which would be more relevent for this disucssion.
