Hi everyone,
Here goes my first post!
I just bought a 37" Samsung LCD TV and I am planning to upgrade my auditory experience (from my cheap 3000 rupee Creative 2.1 speakers!!)

Usage: 70% movies and 30% music
Budget: Around 25,000

1) Just wanted an expert/user opinion on whether I should go for Sonodyne Ex bar (30"= Rs 25k, 40"=Rs 28k) or Amp + 2 bookshelf speakers [No sub]? (Something like a Yamaha/Marantz/Sonodyne amp + 2 KEF/Polk Audio/Mordaunt-Short etc)

2) If I go for the latter option (Amp + 2 bookshelf), should I go for a Stereo amp or a Home Theatre amp. Won't the home theatre amp be future proof? I am very clear that I DON'T want a 5.1 - hate wires!

Looking forward to your valuable suggestions.

Cheers,

if u hate wires
sony, samsung and panasonic have a wireless option . the rear speakers become wireless and they all are within 40k(5.1 and dvd with built in amp)

Personally I dont like soundbars. Having said that, if aesthetics and space constrains are forcing you, may be that is the way to go! So as per your line of thoughts....

Option 1:
How about the Samsung HT-X810T. You can find a review of the samehere as well as other contenders.

Option 2:
Norge + Diamond 9.2 could be a very nice combo for movies (and even music) on a tight budget. Other options would be CA340A or PM4001 driving diamond 9.1/10.1 - the later being better looking but bass heavy; dint hear it personally but thats the impression I could gather from users.

Happy auditions!

As ur use is more about movies u should go for 5.1 system. Following are options, even if u don't like wires.

Sony 690 / Samsung 320-425-725 are the 5.1 systems which u can make wireless by adding a wireless module.

Philips 3366 has wireless rear tower speakers.
