Sony BDV-E880 3D Bluray Home Theatre

Now, as you have advised:
(1) Composite/Component Out of DVD > Composite/Component In of AVR
(2) Composite/Component Out of AVR > Composite/Component In of TV

Since my DVD (Philips DVP3356) doesn't have any optical out, I will have to follow steps 1 & 2 above. Now, "component" means the Red/Yellow/White cable combination, right?

The cables that I have are Red-Yellow-White, which goes where? I am totally lost!

Thanks & regards

Connect the dvd and avr and tv as mentioned above using component input. The color of cable doesn't matter as long as you connect the same inputs. For audio there should be coaxial output if optical is not available. It is usually marked as SPDIF. Use ordinary RCA cable for that too. No need for expensive ones.

These Home Theater Pacakages are good so long your Room Volume is small to medium since the built in amplifier and the speaker systems are not that powerful to fill a large room.

I have a small room with low ceiling and it sounds good for the price.

Onkyo 3400 is good choice for the price and SQ for not so large room.
