Had been using sony bravia for the last 3 years, yesterday suddenly green vertical lines appeared all over, sony technician came in and opened the tv, suggested to change the display costs around 40k... within just 3 years the display needs to be changed!!! He said it might be because of voltage fluctuations, this is horrible from sony...

Next time better go with a cheaper brand.. This is not unusual these tvs are now timed to die be it tcl be it Sony, so why pay Sony tax? They will also offer you 20% disc on sticker price of next Sony as consolation and 3 years later repeat

I have had a similar experience with my SONY X9000F. 4.5 years and It developed window blind like pattern and then recently the TV wont boot at all. I knew this would cost me a ridiculous amount to fix it, so I let it pass. My friend in Australia had the same TV and the same fate. So much for it's reputation!

I have the same X90J 55 inch that I bought because it was the cheapest FLAD by Sony. And it being a reputed brand I thought it would last at least 8-10 years before developing any issues. My panel had the double image problem with flickering horizontal lines around 2.5 years after purchase.

At this point it feels like going through cycles of cheap projectors of 8k-10k as long as they last. Because movies and a few TV shows also look truly awesome and feel great on big screens. Before that I used to watch movies on my 24" PC monitor, so going back to smaller screen feels like a downgrade.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
