Sony Bravia 9 TV; K-85XR90: A Critical & Honest Review…

based on feedbacks any possibilities they attend related improvements through firmware updates? I mean possible ones...not referring to screen reflections or other being type of hardware?
also any one got latest pricing for 75 & 85 inch 9 series please share.
Got the latest prices... both with additional card offers.
75 - 364000/-
85 - 469000/-

I went to demo the 85 incher Bravia 9 TV in detail today at a nearby store and compared to popular OLEDs as well as other Sony TVs. I must Sony has done a great job in this miniled tv, the colours were really great and compared to OLEDs I can say its close to 85-90% in deep blacks. The showroom was brightly lit and still I could watch the TV without any issues. I also requested to switch on another TV just opposite to it so I could check the reflections and I was amazed by the reflection handling, though not the greatest but much better than what I've seen earlier.

I am in the boat to buy an 83/85 inches and had finalised the 83 LG C4 but the price is killing. Bravia 9, I got a price today for 460000 with 25k cb on emi, so effective price is 435000/- which is really good and will further come down a little in the coming weeks due to festival approaching. LG I got 550000 with cb.

After reading your comments I am in a dilemma.
Am I seeing it right? Sony Bravia 9 83" 435000 where as LG C4 83 for 550000? Is it C4 only for sure?

Yes that's correctly mentioned. At that time this was the offer and I really regret not to take the Sony as it had very good price and cashback. LG C4 was really expensive compared to Sony and still is. Though I paid a little more later for the Sony but still got a very good deal compared to what I got from multiple sources.

Did you buy the tv without demoing it first? I think the glossy glass is easily noticeable at the showroom. Most oleds or higher end series tvs have glossy panels which helps on having the color pop
Agreed... But, it's completely like a black mirror haunts day & night. BTW, after 10 months the TV was a dead-duck with major components like the main board, power board, etc., damaged. May be serious quality control issues due to cost-cut objective. Initially, I was shocked as never expected from this brand. Honestly, very first reason I love and loyal to this brand for three decades being it's build quality, last long... minimum 10 years.
However, the brand replaced the defective unit with a new one.

Some bad apples always. May be just a bad unit. I had a LG, which had complaints in the first month and the second unit also had few issues, third one lasted for 7 years without any issues.

Shouldn't be with top-tier brands. During my issue couple of months back, I raised this issue through a social media. A gentleman from Sony had replied so casually... "it happens over mass production! Pathetic, irresponsible to the core and unacceptable.

This is scary, happening in just 10 months of purchase. I guess these big brands are taking the consumers for a ride but whats the option otherwise if one is looking for top notch A/V quality. They are certain that the market is there and it sells, customer service... who cares.

I'm happy your's got replaced with a new unit, was the process easy or time taking with lot of followups. How is the new one treating? better than the earlier or same as before?

Hi Sir...
Thank you for your thoughtful input and concern. I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Sony's exceptional video capabilities – its video processing and picture quality are indeed world-class, with other brands struggling to keep pace. However, I've consistently found that Sony's audio capabilities fall short of expectations.

My primary concern, though, lies with the recent quality control issues and catastrophic failures I've observed in several cases, often within the first year or two of use. This is unprecedented for a brand like Sony, renowned for its superior product quality and durability that typically lasts a decade or more.

In my own experience, I encountered an issue with my Bravia 9, although within the standard one-year warranty period, which fortunately resulted in a replacement with a new unit. Just think for a while, what could be the situation if it happens a couple of months later i.e. post warranty period? I'm not just thinking about me but many. While the new unit is functioning adequately, the uncertainty lingers, given my previous experience with the same brand and model.

Despite this, I'm willing to give Sony another chance, driven by my decades-long familiarity with the brand. However, if anything goes wrong, it will likely mark the end of my association with Sony.

Once again, I appreciate your concern and time, and I look forward to your thoughts.
Cheers... 👍

Would be interesting to see how much price of Bravia 7 and Bravia 9 reduces during Dusshera and Diwali offers. The price of Bravia 5 and Bravia 7 is close with Bravia 7 being better than Bravia 5 though Bravia 7 is a 2024 model. Bravia 7 is listed at 3.08 lakhs today in ShopAtSC website and can be got for 2.7-2.8 lakhs with dealers. Would be interesting to see if it goes to 2.3-2.4 lakhs post GST reduction and offers.
