Hello FMs,

I have a 4 year old Blaupunkt MP47 with Sony Xplod speakers in my car. I am using a 4GB sandisk flash drive for playing music on it. Now, the thing is that the player plays the songs in its own sequence, no matter how I try to arrange the tracks by sorting.

Please let me know that how can I arrange the tracks on the drive so that they come up in my preferred sequence while playing.

Thanks,
Saket

Unlike ACD, mp3 get sorted in alpha-numeric ascending order. Add some prefix to the file name like following -
1_xxxxxxxx.mp3
2_xxxxxxxx.mp3
3_xxxxxxxx.mp3

and so on... this should do the trick. :)

Thanks Koushik for coming to the rescue, but I have already tried that. Doesn't work.

What information I have gathered from the internet is that its the sequence the files physically copied to the drive is what that matters. For example, if song A is copied before song B, irrespective of their names alphabetically or numerically, song A will play first.

I am in the process of copying those 400-500 songs at the moment!

But I would prefer an easy way out for the thing that when I put new songs on the USB, they come up first.

Thanks,
Saket

I had this frustrating problem on my x333 hu as well. Looking for a new hu with folder navigation via volume dial now

Sent from mobile on a crappy keyboard. Pls excuse typos.

I had the same issue on a Pioneer HU. I worked around by using a PC freeware called Driver sort(I think this is the name. you can google it). What it basically does is it modifies the FAT file system to sord it in alphabetical order so that its easy to keep track.

I have used it successfully and it worked well. Give it a spin.

Thanks Praveen,

I googled it and found out that it is actually 'Drivesort'. If it works then will end worries of many!

Thanks,
Saket

Just a small correction in what koushik mentioned.
If you have close to 500 files in the drive 1_XXX , 2_XXX may not work. Since arranging the songs, after 1_XXX you will get 10_XXX and then 11_XXX .
Use the same principle as suggested by Koushik, and use first 3 characters of filename purely for sequencing purpose.
So your naming would start from 001_xxxx, 002_xxxx, 003_xxxx, 004_xxxx etc.

Some of the music players do not consider the file name, but consider the "Title" in the file properties. This can be changed by right clicking on file name. This also needs to be in serial as mentioned above.
There are freeware softwares available that can do the job for you.

Some players do not consider the FOLDER structure in the drive. They go by ALBUM name in file properties. This also can be changed by the above method.

And last and the simplest solution (or problem) could be you have your music player in SHUFFLE mode :)

Hope this helps.
