"poorly-recorded/mastered recording should sound better on a high end system than a lower quality playback system"
Do you all fully agree?
No, quite the opposite should be "nearer" to correct.
Quite the opposite.
A high end system would show up all the deficiencies in the recording which a lower one would not.
Not fully convinced!
Till yesterday some recording sound was quite good in my ordinary system , but now in hi end system with a more transparent speaker it turns to be poor recording with lot of details! less pleasant ! Is it desirable ?

Desirable , if you want to increase the quality of your recordings and what you want to hear.
A simple analogy is watching low res videos on mobiles and then trying to see them on your 50 inch LCD. A disaster but not fault of the TV.
Look for micro details
Look at the tone and textures ( look for their correctness ... )
Sk
instead of going by what has been stated here
why dont you try a simple test
Buy a well recorded Album or alternatively ask some friends to lend them to you or get the said flacs on USB
Now play these "well recorded/mastered" pieces on both your systems
What can you hear
What do you feel
Look for micro details
Look at the tone and textures ( look for their correctness ... )
if you still enjoy your humble system
thats great !!!
Now
if you start noticing differences favorable to the "high end" system
BAD LUCK
youre now officially and "Audiophile" !!!!!
There is a truism in audio: the higher you move up the equipment chain, the less listenable your music collection will be.
An excellent post by Dr Bass , on the subject-TELLS IT ALL:
