Sound United bought by a medical tech. company!

Wouldn’t Masimo lose 650 million if they bought at 1 billion and sold at 350 million?

Sorry, I am putting a - (negative) sign in front of the number to show that, meaning that they made a negative 650/700 million or lost that. Anyways I edited the text colour to red to show that.

This is bad news , it means Marantz , Denon etc are not making profits . Lets Hope Marantz does not sound like JBL or Samsung in the future
Manufacturing companies are usually low margin type of businesses. And niche companies like audio mfrs. are even worse off. Lot of audio companies in the recent past are facing closure, or have folded, even the so called, high end ones. So not surprising really. Personally I feel Massimo over paid for the business, because the CEO, an audiophile, got carried away by his passion, rather than cold hard facts, and bought a business that has nothing to do with his core business. What the board was doing - allowing him to proceed - is anybody's guess.
Cheers,
Sid

JBL and Samsung sounds great these days. In terms of engineering they have really high tech acoustic chambers and engineers. If anything, all sound united company brands would benefit only from this deal

Now 2 powerful companies own a lot of audio brands, IAG and Samsung. At least both the parent companies are connected to audio or video.

I have been listening to music in Budget and non-hifi systems since my Marantz PM11S2 went into protect mode ..... Sonodyne Malhar , JLB professional 104 BT and now Philips 2.1 active speakers connected to my Laptop , Norge Gold 1000 . BUT I cant get over Marantz .

Every time I end up going back to Marantz PM8005 and that SQ beats all of them hands down . So at least in my experience and to my ears , I need what is called as HiFi .

Since Denon and Marantz are not making profits , there will be attempts to cut costs and make it cheap , So I think over a period of time at least they will go in the direction of JBL and Samsung . Once upon a time Harman was known as HiFi

I remember - my interest in HIFI many years back was thanks to Onkyo and Pioneer , but by the time I got into it , both the brands were as good as gone in Audio . I discovered Marantz accidentally . So from that perspective this is not good news .

While it does throw some lifeline to these brands, what remains to be seen is how their quality/price holds up. Under Samsung/Harman, Revel has maintained standards, HK has not.
Hope we still have some good hifi products left within Rs. 1-4 L range.

If I am not mistaken, Arcam too has QC maintained till now under Samsung.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
