soundbar with a projector

Hi Guys,

I have a question related to connecting my BENQ HT 2050 (Specs shared below) with a soundbar. Would appreciate any guidance here. Thanks much!

1) My projector is connected to ROKU PREMIER + (HDMI 1 PORT) and I am using AUX out port of the projector for audio (Connected to BOSE Sounddock series 2)


2) I wanted to upgrade to a better sound setup (A SOUNBAR with a Subwoofer) to get a better audio experience. Any Recommendation under 35k would be great here. I will be using it to watch movies mainly. Thanks!

3) The plan is to get a soundbar with HDMI in and HDMI OUT (eARC/ARC) port. Put the ROKU in the HDMI IN of the soundbar and run an HDMI cable from the OUT port of the bar to the projector. Will this work? Any specific thing that I need to keep in consideration? Do I need to buy anything else for this to work?

Option 3 will work, but if HDMI cable is more than 10feet will affect your sound bar in long run.

I'm in the same situation, looking to get a 5.1 soundbar to go with my Mi QLED 75" TV. Which sound setup did you finally converge on? I'm currently looking at the Sony HT-RT3.

Though a soundbar is convenient, it is always better to get an avr and speakers. That will be a much better sonic experience.

If budget is an issue, one can always go for an avr + 2.0 bookshelf speakers to begin with, and upgrade/ add speakers as the budget permits.

In my opinion you can go for Yamaha YAS-408 and later on you have the option to add wireless surround speaker set WX-021
and if you want a lesser option you can go for Yamaha YAS-209.
