Speaker Options for Denon-1912

I got a question for which did not find the right thread so posting here- i got a Monitor Audio Br6 connected and when playing audio from my laptop i find that i need to put the volume really high to get some decent sound out. The laptop i have supports 5.1 and DTS output, sorry but really a newbie to this so need to know what could be the reason? Is it cause i am playing downloaded content? Will putting a media player help?

It is not clear how is your connection, you said you connected the laptop out to speakers ? Do you have any amplifier between laptop and Speaker. Please explain about your connection in detail, that will help in identifying the problem.

I have laptop HDMI to Denon 1912. The laptop sound card supports digital audio as i can choose 5.1 output when playing a movie and the Denon 1912 recognizes DTS/Dolby digital input as the sound( when applicable)

Did you checked with different HDMI cable.
Yes, but not that i checked with a higher grade, actually if i play the SAME content via the blu ray player even then the sound needs to be jacked up to almost 60-70%. I have Monitor Audio Br6 and got a 150 sqft room. I played some DTS DVD's and they are ok. Most of the issues i got is with downloaded content when played in 5.1 mode.

The content stream itself is coded with low gain, please check playing it in PC and compare with other stream contents. One way is you can do a transcoding of this content and set a higher gain/quality and test it.

You can try with Format Factory and check after transcoding. Format Factory Home Page - Free media file format converter

searching for a good pair of bookshelfs for my denon 1912. presently having wharfedale 9.2, i am not satishfied.

my room size is 12x12. prefer to listen a lot mp3 320kbps downloaded from net and occasionally watch movies. ratio music to movies 75%/25%. have shortlisted MS aviano 2/ polk audio rtiA3./ms avant 902i.

i prefer wider sound stage. once i heard avianos with yamaha 471 and liked the sound very much. but did not demo it with denon. will it go with 1912??

i live at a remote place and nearby audition options is going Kolkata. and that to rarely.
so your advice would guide me directly to go with any speaker.

today visited a small shop at rourkela, odisha.
auditioned for CA S30, MS aviano 2, MS Aviano 1, with Ca 550 amp.

the audition room was too small to judge aviano 2. sound was a bit muddy and bass was boomy. when i auditioned CA s30, the sound was detailed and bass was tight and treble to me was fine.

packed one pair of CA s30 for 11,500/-. knowing that it was 2,500/ more than what alliance4 has offered me.

i bought it because it was the only shop in odisha having such collection of speakers and amps. audition room is only 10x8 and height is 7.5ft. its one oppertunity for people of odisha for high end audio devices.

the shop named Chandan Enterprises, shop no 144, ispat market, sector 14, rkl. and ph no 9337405521.

i would definitely try KEF q300 next time i am at kolkata profx.
i have planned for kolkata for the audition of polk audio rtiA3 and KEF q300.

Again i would like to inform that i have started enjoying the CA S30 from Day 1 itself. i have bi-amped it from my DENON 1912. i am quit satisfied with the details it gives at low volume. the bass is tight and a little bit low compared to my Wharfedale 9.2. but i am not a bass lover. i think its just fine for my stereo set-up.

again i love the details it gives at its price range. think those who love listening music at slow volume will definitely love it at a price point of 9k from alliance4 Mumbai.

south city mall for sonodyne is not a proper place to judge speakers. the audition room is fully built of glass, as if its a jewelry shop.
you can't definitely judge the performance of the speaker. i have been to that place 6 months back for the audition of 2605v tower speaker. disappointed totally.
