I'm looking for speaker recommendations. Either Floorstanders or Stand mounted.

They will be used for just listening to music. Looking for something not too bright that that can be listened for extended periods without fatigue. I'm based in Goa but willing to audition them at any dealers in major citys - Mumbai, Bangalore ... etc will also consider second hand ones if you happen to know of anybody selling.

Budget is upto 1 Lakh.

Equipment used:

Source: Laptop/Foobar/FLAC --> audio-gd DAC19-DSP
Preamp: Linn Kairn --> Poweramp: Linn Klout

I have audition Monitor Audio Bronze 6 in past. They are clear, detailed and non fatigue for long listining sessions. MRP 95K else Paradigm Monitor 9 is also equally capable costing 90K. But MA Bronze 6 more detail in upper frequencies and Center image is stronger than Paradigm. Also audition KEF Q900 with Marantz 6011 equally capable with balance sound signature with huge soundstage , tight and agile bass. Cost not exactly but may be 120k as I was not intended to purchase KEF.

I had a brief listen to the Monitor Audio Silver Floorstanders and was equally impressed with them. I cant find any Indian dealers and don't know what would be their markup on price + import duty.

Richer Sounds in the UK were selling them for 800 which is very good price didn't have room to bring them back with me on my return flight to India last week.

Paradigm sound interesting will look into them.

Where did hear the KEF Q900? I've always liked the sound of KEF Speakers.

I have audition KEF Q900 in Dubai and KEF Q500 in Mumbai @ ProFx. You may contact ProFx for Q900.If budget is more than 125k, then look for B&W 683 S2. Again audition with your amp to get the exact sound signature of set.

There is monitor gold speakers available on hifiads.com from a person who is very reliable. You may want to consider them.

You have very good budget so you have lot of options around. For listening music I think Bookshelf will be the best option.

You can start with KEF LS50 from there you have options to audition Spendor, harbeth P3ESR etc

One more vote for KEF LS50, particularly so if you are going to sit close (6-10ft) to the speaker. Floor standers might be avoidable for such a case.

Look decent but owner has overpriced them considering they are 4 years old. Not sure about the new ribbon twitter ones but the old MA Gold's were highly rated.

What is missing in current setup that is causing you to look at speaker upgrade? Also what other equipment is in your setup? Do you like detailed or warmer sound? Do you like huge dynamic range vs not?

Anyone happen to know cheapest price for LS50?

Rs. 99,900/- as per ProFx site. But I have heard about up to 10% discount. But then their price was Rs. 1,10,000/- not so long ago.
Btw, prices in Europe(particularly UK) and Middle East are typically less than Rs. 90k.

If you can stretch your budget a bit contact Jochen Semler in Bangalore. He is the dealer for Blumenhofer speakers. Sometime back he had an offer for the Blumenhofer Fun13 Mk2. Perhaps it's still available. Fantastic speaker and especially at this price point he was offering it can not be beaten. Contact [email protected]
