Speakers/Amp from Bangkok

Hi

I friend is coming from Bangkok. I am wondering :
1 Can I buy Wharfes 10 series, Marantz amps considerable cheap than India? If yes from where?
2 What about custom? I know that govt imposed duties on TV import since last year. But is the custom also imposed on Speakers/Amps?

If they catch at the airport the duty will be 25% or so

My experience with Bangkok Hifi stores(at least the big stores) a few weeks ago was that the amp/speakers were priced as much/just more than here...unless you can find a grey/used market buying may not make as much sense..as per my limited knowledge

Not much of a price difference. Plus you need to account customs. Thailand flights are always high on custom radar.

Probably hard disk drives if you are into PC as normally its cheaper being the largest manufacturing nation of HDDs.

Also if things are imported from abroad, usually warranty is not honored in India. For most of the products, warranty is valid only in the country of purchase. This is to encourage the local market / production. So please keep this in mind while importing very costly items. If the imported item works fine for a period of one - two years in India then there is no issue as after the warranty period everything is at par.

I heard SLR camera are good buy from there. I even heard one of my friend got brand new iphone for less than 20k and got it unlocked locally here in india for another 2k hyeah:
