Speakers damaged on transit

i guess Double boxing is the one way of protection ie put the original carton in another carton with thermocol padding. i dont know if Not shipping is a feasible option :(

Using a wooden crate is also a kind of double boxing and yet even that doesn't help. I had got a really heavy equipment sometime back in a wooden crate and carton inside with good amount of packing and that too had reached me with some bent corners. I suspected throwing around of parcel but didn't bother much since it worked fine.

I know the shipping company didnt cover insurance. but they are still responsible for the damage and you have all the right to sue them. If they didnt cover the transit in insurance they have to pay for it from there own pocket. dont hesitate in writing a mail to them ant asking them to pay for the damage. lets have a reply plus ask for the shipping charges back and harasment as well. lets bring them to the track. what the hell this is we keep our speakers and stuf with utmost care n this is wat the shipping company does to it. im following this thread to hear the rply from the shipping company after you send a mail to them. do give them all the details like the pikup and destination and the paking you did and the airway bill no. etc. they are totaly responsible for this. geting insurance mean the insurance company will bear the damage n if there is no insurance the shipping company will bear it. i and all the forum members are with you keep posting

You should totaly expect a reply in case they are not replying send them an email again that you are going to take the legal route if you dont get a reply from them and mention some time within which they shud rply which you think is apt

No reply till now from the courier company. I'll send a second email tomorrow with a copy of the first email included.

Buyer of the speakers is presently not in his city and so the final decision about what he plans to do with the speakers will take time.

All said and done, the speakers having more surface area are prone to damages compared to smaller items like amps etc and more likely to be thrown about due to their weight particularly if they are floor standers if u ship thru normal courier companies who do not specialise in transportation of specific type of goods.

Hi Shivam sorry to hear that, i hearty appreciate you generosity and kindness hope we all learn lesson from this??? Always most of us wash our hands just saying my job is over after shipping. But aim delighted by your simplicity regards.

Terribly sad to see the condition of the speakers. I've had my bad experiences with courier guys. I once bought a Tuner from Mysore based FM. The Plastic fascia broke into pieces at the corners, the tuning thread and the acrylic display panel got dislodged. The repair cost me 1k but the originality of the turner is lost.

That's why I do not trust the courier guys at all.

Posting some photos. Damage seems similar to heavy impact.
I am guessing that they were thrown around.

... and to think that some days back they were as good as new and singing in my room.

its obvious, your speakers were thrown about when loading and unloading. As I mentioned in my packaging post for the Grundig amplifier, never use the original factory packaging. These are not adequate for shipping. Sad that this has happened. I also learnt my lesson with packaging from speaker shipping.

An update from the buyer -

The damaged speaker will require some repairs and he maybe able to restore it somehow. The other speakers seems to be fine.

The buyer wants to bear a part of the loss and offered a financial support too. I would have loved to tell the forum members the name of the buyer especially for his nice gesture but he told me not to. Though I will request him to let me disclose his name.

Some forum members praised me for the options I had given him but his gesture too is something to be impressed with. A genuine gentleman ! People like him make this forum a real place.

I am glad to hear this, people like you (both) are assets of HFV.

shivam,

as magma said please write in detail to wharfedale explaining your unfortunate circumstance and its quite possible they may respond to you with good advise on how to get things back on track.

Infact Designer Audio in Mumbai are their main distributors and a nice email to them could help as well.

Good luck !

What ever be the decisions required in this matter please take if decisively and fast. Agony should not be allowed to fester else it will sour.
