Friends,

My wife has been using her laptop (in dining room) or mobile phone for listening to songs in the kitchen. And she was asking me if it was possible to upgrade the sound, since the laptop and mobile speakers are weak.

I can use the Zone 2 output of the receiver to deliver the songs to the kitchen.

However, wanted to check if the regular speakers can take the heat, oil particles and other kitchen conditions.

Have anyone tried it out?

Any suggestions for a pair of speakers, if so?

It will be driven by Denon 1912.

Or am I better of buying a dock?

regards,
PK

pkr,

I would not recommend anything too expensive in a kitchen. The reason being that there is a lot of grease mist that will form on anything you place in the kitchen. If anything just go with a simple 2.1 HTiB package from any computer store and you should be good. You can get these from Rs 1200 upwards and don't let the price fool you - they sound pretty good for the money.

Hello..personally I suggest a cool sounding stereo unit is better in kitchen than one with a woofer/sub if intend to use frequently. You can try searching for it in local electronic stores or computer stores. I wish you some great tastes ahead by music therapy. :D

How and where do you plan to keep these speakers? wall mounted or on a surface?

If the kitchen is small, would suggest to go for a single unit portable system. For a small kitchen 2 w output should be enough.

In case you have a big kitchen, would suggest to go for bookshelf type speakers (2.0) and get it wall mounted.

Hi

If you intend to use the Zone 2 to output music to the Kitchen, would suggest you to go for Outdoor weather proof speakers. Boston Acoustics / P Audio / JBL etc have some models which are used near swimming pools, gyms, Saunas etc. It all depends on the size and the budget you have in mind.

As suggested by the others, the best would be to get a good quality mini HiFi with FM. Most of my relatives have done this in their homes.

Hope this helps.

Friends, thanks for all the suggestions.

Based on your thoughts, thinking of either a dock or a 2.1. Will update once initiated.
