Hello folks

I finally bought my AVR-Yamaha 673 and expect to recive it in a week's time.:yahoo:

As I have invested in the AVR, thought might as well invest on the speakers. I have a budget of 50k for the speakers (strictly limited to this amount) and the following requirements

- Floor standers are ruled out as I have a placement problem
- My listening preference is 50% music and 50% movies
- Prefer a full set of speakers (5.1 Channel)
- Would like them to be as compact as possible with an additional option to wall mount them

Please give your valuable suggestions so that I can get the best within my budget and constraints.

BTW I also need a good step down transformer for the AVR. Suggetion for any good model/make available in B'lore and the price for the same will help

Thank you

+1 to that. You can always start off with a good quality pair of bookshelfs and a matching sub. You can get a very decent movie experience with a 2.1 setup. I use a 2.0 setup for movies (basically, my 2 channel music setup) and I am very happy.

As funds grow, you can add the remaining components (centre and rears)

Hello folks

I have got the Yamaha 671 AVR instead of the 673 I wanted. I mostly watch movies and listen to music from the MP3s

I too am looking for 5.1 speaker set up for my living room. However, due to space constraint and room design, I have to rule out floor standing and book shelves. I have narrowed down on the below, can you please advice which will be the best out of these?

Boston Acoustics A 2310HTS Home Theater Speaker Package
Wharfedale DX-1 Home Theatre Package
Minx 525 home cinema system (not sure if these are available in India)

If there are any other makes/models, suggestions are welcome.

Gurus, your help will be much appreciated.

I think the Deftech 600 and Paradigm Cinema CT100 are well with in your budget, if you raise up a little more you can get Deftech Procinema 800.

Thank you Kittu

What are your thougts on Minx 525 home cinema system? Which of the two is better - Deftech 800 or Minx 525?

Regards

The online reviews are ok on the minx series, but I guess they will be priced way over their size and performance. Thou Deftech speakers are costly , they are worth for a home cinema setup. Or else you can get bookshelf based setup step by step (A long lasting one). :)

Can you help me with the best dealer for the deftech 800 speakers in Bangalore?

Lot of dealers claim that deftech does not give them much margins like other brands and offer only 5-7% discount. So far music ranch , Jayanagar turned out to be the best(Based on feedback from other FM).

you are better off buying slowly than all in a hurry. Often people who buy in a hurry when in a budget, end up upgrading soon and in the process spending much more.
Just get a good pair of bookshelf and centre and save up for more and buy slowly. Most of the sound reproduces from front - over 90%. Dont compromise here. Compromise on surrounds if you must.

have a look at PSB B5 and C4/C5 centre. Should come around 45

ShaQ.Blogs, I would love to go with the bookshelves+centre route but as I have mentioned earlier, due to my current set up, I do not have sufficient place or position to install book shelves. Hence looking for a mini package.

I will try and post some pictures of my current set up this week end so that the experts on the forum can help me.

Thank you
