SQ differences in DAC and nonDAC CDPs

Seriously to be considered! If your PC is within analogue cable-length of your amplifier, you really do not have to spend much to turn it into a good CD player.

We can, as in all things hif, get esoteric and expensive, and we can argue the ins and outs (literally ;) ) of the PC sound card, external interface, DACs and so on for ever (and we do ... you can find the threads here!) but look at this thread. It is pure hunch, I haven't heard it --- but I'd suspect that this would easily rival a stand-alone CD player of several times the cost.

Against... the PC doesn't sit nice in the hifi rack. You won't have a nice remote. It may be noisy. It is a different user experience.

for... the PC is a whole world of digital sound, not just CDs. It is a different user experience!
