I own a Squeezebox Touch since yeah and half and has been using it extensively with my Marantz-Wharfedale Combo. I have been extremely satisfied with the result and equipment. Sadly, it appears the production has been stopped. I have noticed there are several Squeezebox Owners (Touch/Duet) in the forum. I would like to discuss how to bring out the maximum from squeezebox or to sort out any niggles faced.

SBT can be connected via USB, WiFi, Internet or external source.

Personally, I was using SBT with a 8/16 GB pen drive. I felt there was a need to increase the disk size and bought a 360 GB Seagate Portable Drive. However, I have found that the SBT function is not smooth with the higher capacity disk. There were crashes and then resetting and a very long scanning time. I gave up the Internal HDD idea.

Last Sunday, as I got some time I installed the SB Sever in my Laptop and streamed the music. Wow! It was an awesome experience. I also found some more server softwares like muso which not only streams the music but are also good for auto tagging.

I moved further and installed SqueezePlayer on my android Tab and used it to control the music. Did the same on my iPhone and have been using it as a controller too.

Future Plans I plan to add a 1/2 TB NAS drive dedicated to SBT for seamless music streaming. I dont intend to move around with my laptop/keep it switched on for the music. Logitech recommends Netgear ReadyDuo NAS. Any more suggestions with price and the source?

Request the forum members, to contribute their experiences and how they have been using their SBs.

I have also installed squeezeplayer on my galaxy tab and simply have rid myself of using the SBT's remote and small screen. As for me this is the best purchase I made in the recent times.

My question to all SBT users, is there anyways I can stream YouTube stuff on to the SBT and play it on my HT ?

I have owned all three Squeezeboxes. The SB Classic was a great product , I used it for about 3 years until it packed up one day. I took it to the US and got a replacement Touch for 1/2 price, and this works well. I also havea Duet which I got after my Classic, it's alsoa great product. All were connected to my ReadyNAS, which has the Slimserver software installed in it. It's a great combo..

I own a SB touch. I have all my media on ReadyNAS with slim server. I use my ipad and occasionally my phone as remote control. Never used the stock remote that came with the SB touch.

There is a youtube plugin available. You can enable it in your server page. I played with it for a while but was buggy. More information is here -> Announce: YouTube Plugin

There is also Waveinput which simply captures what your PC would be playing and sends it to the squeezebox, but this works when the server is running on the PC, whereas, with the Touch, I suppose the server is running on the touch itself.

Hey all Squeezebox owners! I've been wondering why no such thread exists!

I have a SBT (just got it a few days back, got a used one from the US), and I'm mainly using it for Internet Radio as well as playing music in FLAC from my PC. I tried connecting a 1TB HDD, and could not bear the scanning time (is it supposed to scan the HDD every time I connect, and take that long?), so gave up on it. (Though I later learnt that it's best to have only music on the HDD, and not store pics)

On the whole, the product does everything its supposed to.

How do I add 3rd party plugins?

I use the Logitech Android app to control from my phone and tablet, and it's very usable. As they say, it has freed my music...

Planning to buy a NAS with 1/2 TB disks...any suggestions?

Has anyone faced problems with NAS?

I am looking for trouble free operation of SBT.

When you are running squeezebox server on a PC, you click on settings, which should bear near the bottom right of your screen. Plugins is one of tabs. I do not know if there is a Touch-specific way of doing it, but I expect that you can control a Touch from PC too.

You can even do stuff like play a CD from your PC's CD drive.

Why on earth would anyone want to do such a thing? Well... if your CD player is broken.... :o:cool: :o:cool: :ohyeah:

Hi,

I received my SBT over the weekend through a friend who travelled from US to Chennai. I do have a NAS (D-Link DNS325). Most of the weekend was spent on auditioning various FLAC and apple lossless files that I had in my PC and external hard disks. Now I need to try it from the NAS as that is my target. Shall update when I do the same.

Have you "Touch" owners seen this?

Yes, Touch toolbox 3.0 , lovingly called as TT3.0 is a great and safe mod for your Touch. The difference in sound on my system has been of night and day. It is built on a premise that running minimal processes on Touch will improve quality.
To be really effective you should run sb server on a NAS or PC.

Hi,

Anybody has been able to play last.fm on the touch ?
I am surprised that last.fm is available on the web in india but not on the touch.

Thx
Amit

Any place to buy a Logitech Squeezebox in India? If not, then which is the best overseas shipping option?

I picked up Synology DS212J NAS couple of weeks back and it works really well as squeezebox server. Draws very little power and also support other media streaming to TV/phone/iPad.

Quite happy with it.

Congratulations !
Does it run same as squeezebox server or DLNA ? Is there any quality /access speed difference experienced ? What was the landing cost?

It runs the squeezebox server from Logitech and there is no difference in the audio quality.

Cost: Diskless NAS for $219, 2x2TB HDD for Rs.11K so ~Rs.22K
