step down is giving a annoying sound is this normal

i have a step down 1000w 220 to 110 v is it normal for these step down to give sound

it is normal for a power transformer to "give" sound while it transforms power-

let me list the typical sounds -

step down (cheap) - uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnmmmmmmmmmmmm

step down (expensive) - ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

servo - yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

cvt (constant voltage transformer) - trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

step -up - uuhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

power regenerator (not a transformer) - .............................. (silence)

Check if it is the chassis is resonating/vibrating to add to the transformer hum. I fixed this in my previous transformer by using felt as a cushion between the chassis and the cover.

Be careful not to seal the hot air outlets. Also, you may void your warranty (if any) if you open the cover of your transformer.
