Hi All

This is a follow up to my previous thread
http://www.hifivision.com/speakers/67009-good-budget-floorstanders-yamaha.html

Current setup

TV Room (21wx17l) (this is not a dedicated room, has a hall way so overall just a part of the room is used for TV experience) so more like 17x13

TV Room has the Yamaha 5.1 receiver (HTR-3066) with Boston A26 as Fronts + 1 Center speaker + 2x surround speakers from NS-P 20

This works decent even without a sub at the moment.

Movie room (17wx21l)

this room has the Yamaha 7.1 receiver ( RX-V581 ) with Mission MX3 Floor standers & Boston A225 Center Channel speaker and 2x surround speakers from NS-P 20 and the Yamaha Sub from the NS-P 20 Active 20 watts.

TV room works perfectly but I am not really satisfied with the Movie room yet.

Now questions.

1. Are BA A 26 better than Mission MX3 or are they, same league? I feel like they perform equally.

2. I am now debating now if I should move the Mx3 to tv room and use BA 26 for the TV room so they work better with matched center channel.

3. Sub while now it is adequate I do not feel it very special so I am thinking to buy a new sub for the PJ room and move the existing one to TV.

Please suggest one under 20K or under 25k max that matches my system may be something from the Boston?

Dual sub is an option for later.

4. Presence speakers ( my receiver allows 7.2 or 5.2.2) I don't know which one will be better rear or presence and If presence heights or ceiling? also, would ANY speaker do the job i.e my Yamaha small satellites from HTIB or should we get better speakers?

I do not want the up firing dolby speakers as my ceiling is not very even so may not be a good idea

Hi

Honestly i am a bit confused with your post....anyways...here goes...

1. Are BA A 26 better than Mission MX3 or are they, same league? I feel like they perform equally. -- to some extent....try using the same movie / TV program and see the actual difference...you are the ultimate user..so it should suit your tastes...both are good...

2. I am now debating now if I should move the Mx3 to tv room and use BA 26 for the TV room so they work better with matched center channel.--- not sure what you want to move...as advised...you can use one speaker in each room to test and hear the difference...meaning one boston and one mission in each room.....

3. Sub while now it is adequate I do not feel it very special so I am thinking to buy a new sub for the PJ room and move the existing one to TV.----all depends on how satisfied you are and how much bass you want....

see this link for subs under a good budget.....

4. Presence speakers ( my receiver allows 7.2 or 5.2.2) I don't know which one will be better rear or presence and If presence heights or ceiling? also, would ANY speaker do the job i.e my Yamaha small satellites from HTIB or should we get better speakers?

-- if you are using a lot of Dolby Atmos content then it makes sense if you are ready to spend on those speakers, possibly room treatment etc....else settle for widely used 5.1 or 7.1 (Front Height / Rear Surround)....see google images for optimal placements to get an idea....

All the best

Thanks for your answer, sorry I was confusion

I was just trying to say I was going to swap my Fronts on both rooms

ProAudo site seems expensive compared to hifimart but I could be wrnog.

Hi

In TV room use one Boston and one Mission.

In Movie room use one Boston and one mission...

Thats how you can know which will sound better ....try a variety of TV programs and movies...

In terms of online websites, there are many....right now quite cheap for BIC America subs...always research check prices and then make the purchases...
All the best...

Better to have speakers from the same series for fronts..In that regard, better to move BA 26 where BA A225 is..

Dual sub is an option for later.

Don't chase the brand..Whichever sub (10/12) you find in your budget, get dual.. You room is reasonably big..

4. Presence speakers ( my receiver allows 7.2 or 5.2.2) I don't know which one will be better rear or presence and If presence heights or ceiling? also, would ANY speaker do the job i.e my Yamaha small satellites from HTIB or should we get better speakers?

I don't have a first hand experience with ceiling speaker, but you could re-use the Yamaha HTIB satellites and mount them overhead at your listening position.. Speaker brackets from MX don't cost much.. At the max, Rs 300 /-

Guys I tried both the mission Mx3 and A26 on same room, they perform almost equally and for some reason I liked the Mx3 the better and due to my lazyness and convenience to leave the setup as-is , i have decided to let the fronts be where it is.

I saw a few movies and to be honest I am nearly satisfied with this setup :).

Yamaha Sw020 are performing adequate enough may be its the extra bass from Mx3 front & Boston center helping it but due to my love for subs I would still love to upgrade, have anyone gone from a 20-25W subwoofer to 100watts and is that a noticeable upgrade?

I do not want to spend more than 25k max, I saw another thread about BIC 12 " closely following it. Since I love the 20 watt Yamaha sub, I am thinking if I should upgade it with another Yamaha.

I see Taga ones are often recommended here will give it a trial if I can get to listen one.

@Elangos Dual sub is on my list but may be as a last one after the rear or presense.

Have anyone tried Front heights for Dolby and is it good enough? It is much easy for me to mount the front heights than a ceiling one.so if the performance variation isnt much I would just do heights

If you are happy, then fine..

What is the crossover to sub for the fronts & center ?

If one sub from Yamaha keeps you happy, then a dual one (identical) would keep you pretty happy..

Taga for its affordable pricing..BIC 12 is an other sub in the same price..

I have been using front heights for a while..They are good.. Am abt to change to ceiling mount..

Speakers on ceiling seem to be best location for atmos.. You already have a Yamaha HTIB full range satellite speakers which should work pretty well for atmos..if it has speaker mount back at the back, mount it to ceiling in-expensively, by adding ceiling mount accessory like below for 160 Rs..
