Subwoofer for Music .

Hi.Everyone..! I recently purchased a Yamaha AS500 stereo amplifier ( used) on OLX, to replace my Sonodyne SA8000R Amplifier. Nothing wrong with the Sonodyne. (Going to give it to my son) The speakers are my Yamaha NS8390 which were earlier connected to my Yamaha Network Receiver, but since been replaced by the wonderful Wharfedale 225's purchased from a gentleman from Pune about 3 months ago.. The present combo of the Yamaha Amp and speakers sound very good but sometimes I feel they lack deep bass for certain types of music genres like smooth jazz etc...I want to add a powered subwoofer as the Amplifier has a dedicated sub out. My budget is around 20 K max. Looking for suggestions please...

Mission MS-200, sealed one abt 20K.. If you can get to higher models for slightly beyond your budget, should be a good fit too.. Check them..

One more option is Taga TSW 90v4, ported one in the 20K budget..

Thank you so much for your suggestions.. However I live in Assam. No Dealers here for Hifi. One option again is to buy online. Could you suggest any dealer who I could get in touch with and possibly order... The Taga is available online so are a few Yamaha's....

Have been to their store. Nothing much to write home about. Most of their catalogue is out of stock... Mostly Dealing in professional sound installation in hotels, auditoriums etc. Most importantly - Almost 30 % markup on actual prices.

Hifimart. The deliver to most parts of the country. Plenty of options available on their website.

I shall explore Hifi Mart. They have a good reputation. I had spoken to Mr.Anil a few months ago regarding speakers. Was supposed to buy W225's from him. Didn't as I got a mint pair on OLX from Pune at a very fair price. Thank you for the suggestion.

You have already been suggested of some hifi sites.. Amazon.in too has some listings, you may check if they deliver to your location..

Based on what you mentioned it seems that you are looking for "Presence Bass" and not pounding bass which some bass heads would like to shake rattle the place up!

Look at the Yamaha range of subs...starts from 12k onwards....

You need to look for subs which can get as close as possible to 25/30hz...that will tackle the challenge you are facing now.....

You are very correct.. Sir. I am looking for "presence" like you correctly pointed out. My present set up lacks this given my eclectic tastes in music which are Rock, Jazz, Smooth Jazz , Country and a bit of Everything I guess.

Audition the Yamaha Sw-300 if you can. Amazing sub for the money for movies. Good for music too.
