Was planning to set up a 5.1 home theatre system since many years and finally have decided to get one. My budget is 70-80k including receivers. My usage movies : music 50:50. This is my first home theatre system. After going through threads in this forum and bit of browsing I have zeroed on DENON AVR X1000 and PIONEER AJ-5235XT speakers designed by Andrew Jones. Is there any better setup than this within my budget?

The AVR you have chosen is fine. But you may further research regarding speakers. There are so many brands which are specialized for speakers only(like Boston Accoustics, Polk, Dali etc etc). Also mention if your budget is is 80K for now and later you can extend. Or this is the final budget you need to invest. Also your room size matters. Please specify the details.

Try marantz avr and Boston acoustics a2310 5.1 since movies And music both are equally important. You can also go for step by step upgrade. You can buy Dali speakers which are very popular on the forum and many more will guide you on this

Please remember to keep aside a good sum of money for cabling. At min 250 per metre, for the full 5.1 wiring around a room, it will add up to a decent amount

But more importantly,
The reason you are going for floorstanders is because your room size is big (listening distance of 10ft or more) ?
If yes, then this is the best deal you can get right now for a full 5.1 system.

If the room is smaller, you should consider getting a bookshelves or satellite speakers based 5.1, because floorstanders will sound boomy in a smaller room

Another thing you should keep in mind is that the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers, although well appreciated at their price point, are not without flaws
I mean there is a reason they are priced so low
Just that they make much lesser compromises that other similar priced or slightly-costlier models

So if you are amenable to invest more into a good sounding setup, maybe consider getting only two floorstanders with your current budget (assuming your room size is big enough)

There are enough posts in the forum about buying entry level speakers
Shortlist a few names and listen to them - see if you think they are worth the premium over Pioneers
And then make your call

I saw a 85K package deal at Profx. I think it was pioneer AVR and Polk TSX330 + centre + sub + polk book shelf. Worth a look.

Budget may prove to be inadequate for a good quality system.
Explore the pre owned market you will get very good deals. Hifiads and for sale section of the forum maybe explored for good and low risk options.

Hi,

So can I stop considering Andrew Jones, my room is 12x16ft.
I did audition of AJ and DALI but DALI is out of my budget.

I am new so I cant find much difference in Pioneer 523 and 823 (both have same power rating) and Denon X500

Could you suggest me good range speaker in budget of 40-45

When you listened to Dali and Andrew Jones, how did you like the sound ?

If you say Dali is out of budget, then focus on Andrew Jones. Can you go back and listen again with your favorite songs in MP3 or CD - whatever format you expect to use it at home ? An extended listening session of 5-10 songs

In your room, the what will be distance between the speakers and your sitting position ? If it is on the longer side i.e. 14-15 ft, then you can take floorstanders

And even if distance is 10ft or less, you can consider an all bookshelves setup of Andrew Jones (it would be more cost effective as well)
