Was planning to set up a 5.1 home theatre system since many years and finally have decided to get one. My budget is 70-80k including receivers. My usage movies : music 50:50. This is my first home theatre system. After going through threads in this forum and bit of browsing I have zeroed on DENON AVR X1000 and PIONEER AJ-5235XT speakers designed by Andrew Jones. Is there any better setup than this within my budget?
Please remember to keep aside a good sum of money for cabling. At min 250 per metre, for the full 5.1 wiring around a room, it will add up to a decent amount
But more importantly,
The reason you are going for floorstanders is because your room size is big (listening distance of 10ft or more) ?
If yes, then this is the best deal you can get right now for a full 5.1 system.
If the room is smaller, you should consider getting a bookshelves or satellite speakers based 5.1, because floorstanders will sound boomy in a smaller room
Another thing you should keep in mind is that the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers, although well appreciated at their price point, are not without flaws
I mean there is a reason they are priced so low
Just that they make much lesser compromises that other similar priced or slightly-costlier models
So if you are amenable to invest more into a good sounding setup, maybe consider getting only two floorstanders with your current budget (assuming your room size is big enough)
There are enough posts in the forum about buying entry level speakers
Shortlist a few names and listen to them - see if you think they are worth the premium over Pioneers
And then make your call
