Suggestion on fyne f501

Hi friends,
Recently I have been offered a good price for fyne 501 speakers, but cannot find much information about the pairing amplifier, currently I own marantz PM6007/wiim pro/concept 20 speakers, sound lean and lack bass depth. Also own q acoustics 3050i. Was not happy with towers, bass heavy and lacks clarity. Regarding fyne f501, I found good reviews from Whathifi review and absolute sound mentioned a dip in upper midrange measurement Absolute sound review and needs careful partnering. Does it sounds neutral/warm, needs brighter amp. ? I'm from Chennai and no one have it for audition. My room size 12*15 Sqft. Please provide your suggestion.

Don’t go by reviews. Listen and decide. If you already have towers changing one step next is not going to create magic and you will burn money. Take reasonable advice before you decide.

Whether your current amp will sound good with the Fyne 501? I think you will get a lot of opinions but consider how many will have the same amp and speakers? That too In a room similar to yours? It’s unrealistic to expect anything other than opinions to this question. The specs of the amp and speakers in consideration show they match. The Fyne website says (for F501E)

You mention you would like more bass. This would depend upon the listening volume, speaker placement and room acoustics. But 36Hz is plenty low for most music. Nuanced bass? Only one way to find out. Listen in your room with suitable recordings.

So, my take: If you can afford it (good deal you say) buy it and try.
Several outcomes are possible. Among them:
1. You love it and live happily ever after
2. You decide to sell the Fyne speakers as they don’t match your expectations
3. You decide to change your amp.

And so on. In any case you will have an exciting experience and enjoy the exploration and discovery for yourself. But only if you allow yourself the freedom to do this. Obviously don’t do this if you can’t afford to at this time.

I went ahead and purchased the Fyne Audio F501. Initially, I paired them with the Marantz PM6007, but the sound was very harsh, and I couldn’t listen to a single song. I was extremely disappointed with the speakers. Later, I connected them to the Norge 1000 amplifier, and everything changed. The soundstage became huge, the midrange was expressive, the bass was phenomenal, and the speakers performed well from top to bottom. I no longer noticed any harshness in the upper frequencies. The only issue I found was that the sound was a little dry. I don’t own a dedicated DAC. Currently, I’m playing FLAC files through a USB from my Blu-ray player and connecting it using the digital output to the Wiim Pro. I’m then using the analog output from the Wiim Pro to connect to the Norge amplifier.

Can anyone suggest me a pre-power amp combo, these speakers have lively treble. I have tried with SMSL SU1 DAC, it was Harsh on female voice.

I have seen similar setup but have Fyne F502 driven by marantz 7025 power amp .
I am using balanced interconnect from dac to amp. The gain is more with XLR connection.
So soundstage is better compare to rca input and female vocal is not harsh as before.

U can also experiment by changing the factory supplied connectors between HF and LF terminals at speaker input with proper speaker wires.

Thankyou for the suggestion, I will try with good dac and power amplifier combo with xlr cables, but I'm not using factory provided connector, I have using speaker cable to join b/w HF and LF. Also tried with bi-amping but nevertheless seems harsh.

pre amp can be a tube amp from lyrita, yogi bear, anode audio, acoustic potrait...basically try tube preamplification.

p.s. i thin ka gentleman from bangalore had a acoustic portrait pre amp for a good price.

OR

you could go for a all Tube amplification don't be fooled by their low wattage.

Look for a tube amplifier. Fynes and Tannoys like tube amplification.
