Hi All,

I have PSB IMAGE T6,PSB IMAGE C5 Center speaker with Onkyo 609 AV receiver. I don't have any surround speakers now. PSB have dipole speaker matching for T6 and C5.But it is very expensive .

I have a SONY speakers from a mini HiFi system. Can I use this two speakers as rear surround speakers. They are good speakers (made in Japan and 40W RMS) and they are working good with my mini hifi system. But again I need to get stands for holding this if I am using it as satelite speaker.

I just want to know your suggestion like can I use this sony speakers as rear surround speakers. If it can be used can you guys good place to get stands for holding it on wall?

Thanks in advance.
Renjith

What is the impedence of the Sony speakers? You can probably use it for surround purpose as surrounds rarely get stressed. Search Tono wall mounts in ebay.in or see technoguru.in.

I didnt think about budget. I was thinking of using the sony speaker.SInce it is good.
I need to check the impedance.
Any good one in your mind please let m e know.

Thanks

There is sonodyne Sonus R-ears Dipole speakers for 10K. The cheapest dipole that you can get. Any foreign brand will cost you minimum 25K +.....

Using the sony speaker is sensible option. I really believe the sound from rear speakers come rare and for a very small span of time. So the very sound is good enough, quality really doesn't matters. IMO.

If impedance matches go for sony, also to all saying rear does not make much of a difference, my wife was hell bent to buy bipole because it felt to her she was right in the movie

i have a pair of brand new box piece pair of profx fusion 5s bipolar speakers for sale.
let me know if intrested

at very low price I have pair of jbl surround speakers ..has frame like provision to hang on wall . Single driver ....price Rs 2500 K only

I checked the impedance and it is 6 ohms. My PSB is 8 ohms.
So I will set impedance of amp at 6 ohms and will try.
Or I can set impedance of amp as 4 ohms since my PSB speakers shows impedance range from 4 to 6 ohms in manual. Bur US catalogue shows 4 to 8 ohms.So not sure what is exact impedance range of this speakers.

My sony speaker shows impedance of 6 ohms.
So I think I can set either 4ohms or 6 ohms.

Thanks Flash. Let me connect it and check and if it is very bad I will think about it. Budget is the problem.

Hi All,

I connected the sony speaker as rear surround speaker. The impedance of speaker is 6ohms, so I set the impedance of Onkyo 609 as 6 ohms. Then I tried to do Audissey Multi EQ2. When it was doing measurement it said error for rear surround speaker and Audissey process stopped. It is not processing further. I have not kept the surround speaker at 4 feet height.
Please give me some suggestion to calibrate and what could be the reason for error when doing for rear satellite speakers.

Thanks
Renjith

Try reversing the polarity of the speakers. Usually audessey will warn you that the speakers are out of phase.

Thanks a lot. But the same speakers when I connected to middle surround (7.2) audissey didnt detect and error. In speaker wire there were red and black codes which I followed while connecting to receiver. Any way thanks let me check it once again.
Any other chance of error?

Problem got solved. The issue was that i was connecting the rear satelite to 7.1 channel surround.I was having only 6 spakers including sub woofer. That was the reason for error while doing Odyssey. We should connect all minimum speakers for 5.1 then only should use port for 7.1.

Thanks for all suggestions.
