I was casually glancing through SVS website. And something I read there really got me excited. I hope they get their pricing right. I have dreaming of these subs for a long time. Couldnt be happier with the news........

"Make no mistake, SVS is right behind our dealers no matter your situation. The pallet of SVS export products is expanding and we're right on your desktop in Southeast Asia, and before the end of 2010, Korea and India!"

Thats great news. I have been looking for a 2nd SVS for my HT. Knowing SVS, I have bought 4 subs from them in the past 5-6yrs, they should price decently.
Cheers
Sid

Nice ..... i have been looking for a subgrade from my audio engine as8 and was considering the emotiva sealed ultra sub which would require heavy customs and shipping from usa.

Hopefully svs has some sealed models too will need to check their site.

Audire are going to be the Indian distributor for SVS in India. The methodology is going to be slightly different in the sense that sale in India is also going to be through the Net.

I would advise people to wait till the announcement is made on the SVS site itself.

Cheers

I think i really need a sealed subwoofer particularly for precise bass in psytrance. SVS is releasing the SB12-NSD ;) sealed subwoofer in july, i hope all models including this will come to india.

If i buy this sub i also plan to use the high pass filter by sending only 60hz above to my audioengine monitors gaining some headroom there.

400w of headroom is never a bad thing really:ohyeah:, is it:clapping:?

Great news, Audire Technologies in Coimbatore will be dealing SVS from July '10 onwards. I spoke to them when I was enquiring about HSU subwoofers. So two great brands under one roof.

BTW, which is better HSU or SVS?

I would prefer SVS (my pref is a movie sub), but again HSU are known to be more musical. One more thing I hate the way HSU subs look from a aesthetic standpoint. I just love the SVS look. My dream is to own 2 PB 13 Ultra's.

audiodelic - what does "psytrance" mean?

Hey micjak, thanks for sharing. ^ is a fantastic thread. I have spent the last hour just ogling at these massive subs:licklips:. You are right, the Americans are lucky especially when it comes to AV stuff and gadgets.

If you like them you can import them, at a price of course.

Everything (well...almost) is available, but at a price. When Americans pays less and we pay more for the same product. Americans also get warranty and "return policy". So, they are lucky. Right?

Also, how do I know if I'll like them or not without an audition? Just specs is never enough to make a decision.

Some manufacturers do offer warranty when bought direct from them but otherwise there is none, it is definitely not ideal but India offers its own advantages, particularly a low cost of living. We have never been fortunate with toys however, a lot of people complain about the cost of cars here or even PC parts.

Audition would be nice, but differing rooms would negate some of that. If you want some of the stuff that's available outside you don't have much choice apart from a "leap of faith". I have done this many times and I am yet to be disappointed. One should research the product thoroughly online before purchasing. I personally wouldn't count on the local pricing because its likely to be rather high. I do understand why one may feel we are getting a raw deal but that is just how it is.

I was simply pointing out that it can be imported for the benefit of those who might not know and were eager to get their hands on one. It would certainly be helpful if it were available locally with cheaper pricing and warranty.

I am like ^ too buddy:). I have bought a lot of stuff from US and within the last six months, my purchases include a Projector, Squeezebox, Wharfedale Bipole Surrounds and a Emotiva Sound processor just last week. I must have spent some 35k on shipping these to India. That 35k could have been put to better use than shipping. But again, if I had bought them in India, I would have spent another 50k easily. Thanks to services like Borderlinx, vPost, GlobalEbay.

I agree with you on room making a difference.

Oh, and let me show you something nice and superbly priced, that is in US, but is almost useless to Americans due to the 240V:lol:.
