TATA Sky HD Plus

If settings are already saved and you do not change them then the blue button will not appear. Only if you change any of the settings it appears.

About SPDIF/HDMI = I am repeating again - the UI allows for settings for both SPDIF AND HDMI. It is NOT either SPDIF or HDMI is selected for audio output. The fact that SPDIF is selected by default is a bad UI design inconsistent with other menus. Probably there should have been different menus for SPDIF and HDMI.
It happens in mine too and that does not mean that it does not output audio from HDMI.

Thanks Amol..anyways I plugged the Toslink again..made changes to my AVR and it now shows DD Digital....so I am happy..HDMI or no HDMI.

I do have another question...see I keep telling the AVR I have small speakers since I want all bass to go to the SW. But when I switch off and switch on again..it goes back to Large....any idea how to tell the AVR not to switch to Large by default even after I made changes to the settings..Thx

That shouldn't be happening. Even I have set the speakers to SMALL. They shouldn't change to LARGE on their own

Wow... Its working. Thank you very much Amol

After changing the settings it was going back to SPDIF in the menu, hence I didn't check whether Dolby 5.1 is coming through HDMI or not.

After seeing your message I set it again and changed input sound settings in the AVR. Now I am getting 5.1 though HDMI.

As you said 5.1 is coming through HDMI as well as SPDIF, when we go to the menu it shows SPDIF by default.

Thanks once again.

Banner showing wrong info :annoyed:

Getting this unusual software issue while scrolling the channels randomly this channel 100 comes up in banner . Although it shows right channel, banner shows wrong info.

how to resolve this issue any idea

thanks in advance :)

Tata Sky has these problems frequently, you will also notice at these times, that the channels marked "Favorites" will not display when selected. Also when you scroll on your favs (900 onwards) the software will take you to the original channel location : for eg if you have Channel 532 saved as a favorite -say 905 -when you scroll up the next channel displayed will be 533!

Have had problem this on and off for months- wonder why the Tech chaps cannot fix these errors.

Hi I have just observed today that my tata sky remote control volume doesnt work on HD channels. Mute works but if I reduce volume to zero it has no effect and similarly going from zero to highest has no effect either. Is it because I made some changes to my AVR settings last week to get 5.1 sound?

For HD channels STB is not decoding the Dolby audio, it is forwarding as it is to your AVR, hence volume control on STB is not having the effect.

when you are passing digital signal to your avr, the stb can not change the vol. It can only change it if you are connecting via analog outs.

Thats true only for DD output. For all other types of audio including 5.1 PCM one can control volume using STB even over HDMI.

Any idea of new HD channels coming in TataSky HD+ ?

Oh, get out of wonderland buddy! No HD channels are possible before second quarter of next year! They are doing everything like giving mono audio and presenting as DD5.1 for HD channels and several channels have mono or intensity stereo most of the time and you are still looking to get more HD channels? :yahoo: Good Morning :)

Unless they become least enterprising and borrow some other satellite transponders, there is no way they could increase the number of channels. That is the reason they are adding HD channels as SD.

Amol and HTuser - Please confirm that you have the same 105 software version as it still haven't worked for me. I have tried every combination possible right through toggling both SPDIF and HDMI output, rebooting, etc. While the setting stay as DD for both SPDIF and HDMI, I never get DD audio on the TV as the TS volume control still works on HD channels.

@prankey

Let me write what I did

The software version is 105

I changed the settings to HDMI, Dolby. I came out of that screen by saving. When I went to that screen again, it was showing SPDIF and Dolby. I thought the setting is not working.

After seeing the post of Amol, I changed my AVR settings to use HDMI audio instead of Optical Audio. I removed the Optical audio cable.
I powered off and powered on the STB.

Thats it !! Dolby 5.1 started coming from STB through HDMI.

This is better in two ways.
1) there is no need of optical audio cable
2) there is no lag or delay of sound when we switch 1 HD channel to another HD channel. I used to feel a small delay or gap and AVR syncing the audio again. Now it is working smooth.

Now we cannot question the tatasky advertising 7.1 capability as HDMI can carry 7.1. We have to wait for a 7.1 channel to check the actual functionality.

STB software version 106 released.

You may check the HDMI audio after updating.

I couldn't find any change after updation

Anybody identified any new features/changes after updation?

Guys - apologies if it has been mentioned earlier in this thread, but where and how can I check the software version for my box?

Yesterday I upgraded the version to 106 by following back -> back> 2465 procedure.
The only change I could notice is the "IP Diagnostics" option enabled in the settings.
When I click on that it shows the IP related entries like IP address, DHCP, MAC etc..

I think they are slowly enabling the Ethernet port though I haven't tried connecting any cable to test the functionality.

I tried immediately after updating to 106. Still not working :( My HDMI cable is connected to the TV as my AVR do not support HDMI input.

Also, all the original 4 "Asli" HD channels now show banners of several programmings when they come as "Available in Dolby Digital Plus, so 7.1 might be available through the content provider or atleast 5.1 DD+, but probably TS may not be passing them due to (understandably) bandwidth constraints.

Jignesh - I got a call from TS quality team (from CTO's office from where Mohan had come), they are coming today between 5 to 6PM (tentatively) to check these issues (especially DRC which I am so much concerned about) and it gives me jitters and mental agony (seriously) everytime I watch something and hear (or try to here something like background voices enveloping foreground and inaudible dialogs and people screaming becomes inaudible! I keep flooding these threads because still can't believe how the rest of us do not notice such a HUGE issue from TS which is absolutely unforgivable to me.
