Hi Friends,
I am sharing my new Amplifier built with you all. Its been more than 6 to 8 months since I started this project. I have named it “Pinnacle AB700”. “AB” itself suggest its a Class AB Amplifier. I am calling it as a “Big Brother” because i had just recently made a Amplifier "Pinnacle AB200". It was rated for 250 watts RMS power @ 4 Ohms. My Amplifier is rated for 500 Watts Power @ 4 Ohms, hence i am calling this Amplifier as “Big Brother”
It can be used as a HI-FI amplifier for home use or a PA application. The Power Supply has 50-0-50 VAC @ 1200 VA rating transformer, supported with a massive power bank of total capacitance 1,20,000uf. It has total 7 Pairs of Transistors for Each Channel.
Note: With 90 Volts DC supply per rail this Amplifier is capable of delivering 700 Watts RMS power @ 4 Ohms. Hence the suffix "AB700"
Below are the specifications of same with 70 Volts DC Supply per rail
Power Output.
260W @ 8 Ohms (Per Channel)
500W @ 4 Ohms (Per Channel)
850W @ 2 Ohms (Per Channel) without any difficulty.
Frequency Response : 7Hz - 150 kHz (-3dB)
Thd : <0.05% at rated power. 20 - 20000Hz
Thd : <0.006% @ 100W, 1 kHz
Sensitivity: 1.44V rms for rated power.
Slew Rate: 95V/us
Damping Factor: >600 @ 8 Ohms (20-200 Hz)
SNR: 117 dB
A little information on built.
The Amplifier modules, Pre Amp / Buffer module as well as soft start module duly soldered and assembled on Heatsink were directly purchased from
@Aniket , Soft Start module was purchased form
theaudiocrafts and the fan speed controller (low speed low noise of air) was purchased from e-Bay India. I had made the Enclosure and Face-Plate (Brushed Aluminium Finish) locally. The Enclosure was designed in 3D software, the Profile was cutted on laser cutting machine and bending was done on CNC bending machine.
First Power On.
I was a bit afraid about humming issue, being such a high power amplifier with a huge EI transformer there was 99% possibility of humming noise from speakers. But then it was a surprise The Amplifier was dead silent on startup. Credit goes to
@Aniket. The sound signature was superb, It was just like the Pinnacle AB200, the only difference was the Power, A High Power Amplifier with such a sweet tonal character, really impressive. to own a Branded one with such a power and tonal character may leave you with a BIG hole in your Pocket. Enough of typing now. Enjoy the Built.
The Wiring layout. Thanks to
@Aniket for his guidance, The layout played a very important role to achived a dead silent amplifier.
Face Plate Aluminum treated for brush finish (There is a little defect on the first slot which can be seen in the below photo) It states you cannot have control on all errors. This was a machine error. The Plate was also cutted on CNC Laser Cutting Machine.
A rough Fitment.
Face- Plate after Silver Anodizing & Laser Engraving.
