The Unofficial Quad Owners' Club !

and i have a whole sparkling new-like 5-pack (Pair of Floor standers, Bookshelves & a Center speaker) up for ones who admire the DALI sonics!

Is an ex Quad owner eligible for the club :)
I had put my Quad 12L Actives on sale sometime back (actually still available though not with me)
Probably the only person in the forum who had the 12L Actives.
I have to say that they were very very good. I really liked the sound coming out of it. I was never able to do justice to the setup as I didn't have a proper source. The pre I used was a Musical Fidelity Tube Headphone Amp. I suppose it did a great job, but a dedicated pre would have been even better.
The most important thing was the music was sounding quite sweet. A bit of more detail in the highs would have been nice.
Also, sometime ago I had bought the last Quad L-ite in India before the Lite2 came in. This 5.1 was with me for a very short duration. Its not a match to the bigger brothers but one of the best musical 5.1 I have heard.

I would suggest people to consider the actives seriously if possible.
For a computer based setup actually there is a Quad 9l Actives available which doesn't need a pre, comes with remote and even USB in. Can be quite a musical complete setup.

Hey, add me to the membership list.

Have a FM4 , 34-pre-amp and 306 power amp, as part of my 'second' system, now largely used by my sons to play their iTunes files off the laptop.
Still, I do most of my own radio listening off this set-up, every morning, 107.10 FM, corny programming for the most part, but the only station here that's not drowning in indi-pop.

Photos to follow.

Please add me too....Attached is a picture of my setup.

Added ! And @ G401fan, upload the pics soon :)

@ alcy : only 5 people are owners in this Forum? where are the rest of them?
:o

Nice pics and setups panditji & Sidharth !

hi alcy,

http://www.hifivision.com/my-audio-video-setup/1167-showcase-your-audio-video-setup-here.html

i point your attention to the thread above wherein rajiv seems to have unearthed a 'senior' member who claims to have the quad esl speakers and who you have added to your club. the speaker pictures appear on two separate websites. seems like AE the poster of what seems to be so far fake pictures ought to be removed from your club unless he can concretely prove that he does indeed own the speakers in question. of course he just might claim everything's packed up cos he's moving to paris ;) :D

i am deeply saddened by this turn of events. how in the world can one pick up pictures off the net just to belong to a club? that too by a senior member who seems to have done it all travelled to china and who seems to know every other guy in the audio field?

very sad, it seems one can't trust anyone these days no matter how knowledgeable/senior they appear!

we are awaiting confirmation/proof from audio engineer... just thought i'd keep you informed so you can keep your club clean with only genuine members and take appropriate action as and when things clear themselves.

regards

Taking into consideration the recent developments and the fact that audio_engr has removed all of his posts from this thread, I have edited the list accordingly.

All of this is too confusing & convoluted.

Guys

I aint in the club but thought this is the best place to ask - since you all own them.

What would be the best amps for the 11L2 and if you could help me out with the prices of the same - so that i can have a go and listen to those combinations at the dealer.

My total outlay should be max 50k i guess. Not more, lesser the better.

You can look for various offerings by Marantz, it seems to pair well with the Quads as pointed out by members on the forum quite a few times. Also, you can search for Quad 11L2 using the search function given in the forum, I had lot of queries answered just by searching & reading posts.

Cheers.

Any amp will do well with Quads.
Quads in particular do not have quirks like bassy low end or boomy bass or sharp high end or subdued high end etc.

So what you need to see, is which amp sound signature you like.

I beg to differ here. The quads are definitely more on the money that any other speaker in their range. But system pairing will enhance the sound for them. And I speak for the bookshelf's here...

I have heard them on Quad 99 pre and Quad 909 power. Sounded very good. Have heard them on a Marantz amp (i forget which one...) and they sounded decent. But a bit prone to be on the high fq side with this pairing. Just a bit though.

So, please do listent before leaping to buy!

well now I know what ppl are talking about when they say quad bookshelves are great. Heard the rotel amp and quad combo at panditji's place. Amazing! It is really amazing how much good quality bass these little 11L bookshelves produce for the music. I am kind of ashamed of my jbl floorstanders!
Now I know what Sid was talking about.

hello quad owners,

I would like to join your club by virtue of my recent purchase of Quad 909 amp and Quad 99 pre amp. ( pic enclosed )

thanks and regards
mukesh

One of the amps that i am considering is the Quad 909. Would like to speak to you regrading your decision making.
