no, never seen/ heard them but it is indeed one of the most suggested speakers in this forum.
Is an ex Quad owner eligible for the club
I had put my Quad 12L Actives on sale sometime back (actually still available though not with me)
Probably the only person in the forum who had the 12L Actives.
I have to say that they were very very good. I really liked the sound coming out of it. I was never able to do justice to the setup as I didn't have a proper source. The pre I used was a Musical Fidelity Tube Headphone Amp. I suppose it did a great job, but a dedicated pre would have been even better.
The most important thing was the music was sounding quite sweet. A bit of more detail in the highs would have been nice.
Also, sometime ago I had bought the last Quad L-ite in India before the Lite2 came in. This 5.1 was with me for a very short duration. Its not a match to the bigger brothers but one of the best musical 5.1 I have heard.
I would suggest people to consider the actives seriously if possible.
For a computer based setup actually there is a Quad 9l Actives available which doesn't need a pre, comes with remote and even USB in. Can be quite a musical complete setup.
Hey, add me to the membership list.
Have a FM4 , 34-pre-amp and 306 power amp, as part of my 'second' system, now largely used by my sons to play their iTunes files off the laptop.
Still, I do most of my own radio listening off this set-up, every morning, 107.10 FM, corny programming for the most part, but the only station here that's not drowning in indi-pop.
Photos to follow.
Please add me too....Attached is a picture of my setup.
@ alcy : only 5 people are owners in this Forum? where are the rest of them?
Guys
I aint in the club but thought this is the best place to ask - since you all own them.
What would be the best amps for the 11L2 and if you could help me out with the prices of the same - so that i can have a go and listen to those combinations at the dealer.
My total outlay should be max 50k i guess. Not more, lesser the better.
Any amp will do well with Quads.
Quads in particular do not have quirks like bassy low end or boomy bass or sharp high end or subdued high end etc.
So what you need to see, is which amp sound signature you like.
