Hi

I want to get the sound from my TV (Sony bravia EX-300) out via my Marantz PM6005.

The TV in question does audio out but in a manner that the vol control can still change the sound.

I am not asking about SQ (tata sky) but whether I will do "bad" things to my amp if I hook them up

ciao

If your tv supports hooking to amp via hdmi, then no harm should be done to amp and volume control problem should also not be there. There may be a specific hdmi port on tv for using with amp.

For example in my tv (panasonic), hdmi 2 is for connecting with amp..

If you are taking the Analogue out/Headphone out from yout TV, then your above statement applies...

i suppose your TV must have digital optical out, make use of that and connect to Marantz PM6005.....

I use my Onkyo AVR for my regular TV watching... There is nothing called "bad thing".... Use it to your convenience...that is why these electronics were desgined for :ohyeah:

Thanks. Sadly no digital out.

Audio out is over RCA (There is a menu selection whether those terminals would be input or output ). It is however not the headphone out for which there is the usual thingy

However i will file t in the analogue output via headphone out dept and not hook up the the Marantz

If your tatasky STB has digital out, make use of that....it will be better than the analogue out from your TV.....

A cheap analougue RCA - RCA cable will cost you around Rs 50 -100 ... it may be lying around home... No harm in trying ... if you are satisafied go ahead!

I am using monitor output of my Panasonic Plasma to connect into power amp. Whatever is selected in TV, source 's volume control has to select volume level. TV volume is kept zero level. Amp volume is constant at 1/4 level. Driving stereo book shelves.
