Unreasonably high price for Squeezebox Touch on Amazon

Amazon.com: Buying Choices: Logitech Squeezebox Touch

Just goes to show that Logitech killed this off too early!

Have you found any viable alternatives? I haven't yet, which surprises me even more! It is almost like there is a market for these things but it isn't big enough for anyone to take interest in.

There is the olive one but not so sure if it is worth it.

Even more frustrating thing is that my SB classic works fine but does not accept a USB input unlike the touch which acts as a SB server as well.

Looks like we can cash it on the SQ touch... Can i sell it for 30K?Will there be any takers .. Good investment.:) like an old vintage amplifier.

After failing to find any viable alternative to the SBT, I bought one from eBay, used for about $290, which is about same as the original price.

Spending $290 for Sq.touch is worth for the money. Few months back somebody advertised in Olx for 30K.. Crazy..

Maybe the Logitech directors hoarded them before pulling the plug

I believe there are viable alternatives, but of the semi-DIY kind, eg Community Squeeze.

I found Marantz NA 7004 to be a good net work player with a good inbuilt DAC .
The negatives - small display though it is not an issue if you are using the remote app on smart phone / I phone.
No wi fi only a wired Ethernet

I was lucky and bought a Touch and Duet and use both on a regular basis. My Marantz Av 7005 has network playing capabilities, but the SB interface is easier to use. At this point I dont know of alternatives.

Different boxes for different purposes --- but the original whole point of Squeezeboxes was wireless communication. Take your music where your wires won't reach, even to multiple rooms simultaneously.

But they never even made a real effort at the marketing war. Probably because somebody noticed "linux" in the specs and decided it would never sell. Why did they even buy Slim Devices in the first place? God knows!

2011-2012 were great years for buying audio/video stuff from Amazon. Shipping from Amazon U.K was free and the rupee/pound trading range was 75-80. In recent times prices have shot up substantially. I remember buying an SB Touch from Amazon U.S. at a fairly reasonable price. I also bought a huge number of cd's and dvd's. I am less interested in music and cinema these days therefore I'm planning to sell some of my stuff. Has anybody seriously considered becoming a re-seller on Amazon.in? Is there any procedure for registering yourself as a re-seller?

There are many alternates that I found better than SQB touch sound quality,

Denon 720AE
Marantz NA-7004
New Popcornhour A-410

Talk of coincidences- I ordered one of these for my Touch, since my original remote died on me a month or two ago. I used the Android SB app for a few weeks but found it didn't quite cut it-for me at least.

Have you tried the iPeng app for SqueezeBox and Transporter? Unfortunately iPeng is only available for iOS devices eg iPhone, iPad and iPod. But I find iPeng a fantastic app for controlling my Slim Devices Transporter. I hardly ever use the remote control.

iPeng, the Original Music Remote

I too wonder what I would buy to replace my Transporter if/when it ever fails. I see that Cyrus and Naim have some streamers.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
