Hi,

I have finalized on wharfedale 10 series for my 5.1 setup which includes 10.7 fronts, 10 CM center , 10 DFS surround. My av receiver is Yamaha RxV 863.

I am confused on the Sub though. Should i go for Velodyne Impact 12 or Wharfedale 10 GX sub. Both come within my budget of Rs 30000 for the Sub. Which do i choose

Music:Movies ratio - 40:60.
Room Size - 22 X 14.

Both have almost same frequency response.

(30 - 100) hz - wharfedale
29 - 140 hz - Velodyne

Impact 12 - 12" Sub and rated at 165 watts rms
10 Gx - 10 " Sub and rated at 250 watts rms

Please suggest. I need to finalize on the above this week. Thanks for your suggestions.

I think i got the other way round
velodyne is down firing and wharf is front firing

In the velodyne it says

downfiring ports for more output and less distortion.

So do i assume that Velodyne is better than wharf?

If i remember correctly, it has provision for grills and bottom shoes on both the sides (woofer and port). We can use the grill hole for shoes and vise versa which makes it a downfiring as well as a front firing sub (info from from some forum), not sure.
see the pictures to understand it : http://www.velodyne.com/vproducts/series.aspx?seriesid=1221

By default it is a forward firing sub with port facing down to get more oomph.
