Hi All

The velodyne warranty registration website seems to be made just for US customers. But the impact-12 model i got today in bangalore, is made for 220V specifically for india/other 220V countries.

Was wondering if any of you have had your velodynes repaired through warranty or otherwise at a local service centre ?

Or do we just approach our dealer for repair/warranty ?

My denon 3310 AVR broke down 2 months after i bought it, having a 2 year warranty on it really helped. Denon service folks took 3 months to fix it, but it got eventually fixed by importing the entire PCB board from Japan (this was done in USA).

Given my luck with electronics items in the past :(, should have checked on this before i bought it - dealer told me it is covered, will call him tomorrow.

thanks.

Folks, had called the dealer today. Apparently the velodyne website used to allow registration from indian customers. But for some reason it is restricted to US customers now.

For any service i need to approach my dealer - no other service centres around, is what i hear.

Typically in US, the sales from un-authorized dealers was not covered under warranty from any company (not just velodyne). And buying from authorized dealers used to cost more than who were not (20-30%) but more peace of mind.

In the past, my AV receiver and another device did break down under warranty and buying from authorized dealer did help. So please consider this while buying any of your devices.

thanks.

Did you check with the dealer that in case there is a problem does he get things repaired locally by his own service people? Service for a lot of other brands work in this fashion. They contact the manufacturer get a replacement part and have it replaced by local servicemen. But trust me as long as the dealer is honoring the warranrty you should be fine, doesent matter how things are getting done as long as they are done.

However I would advise you to double check this with the velodyne distributor in India by calling them and enquiring about detailed warranty terms. Distributor info can be found at the following older HFV thread http://www.hifivision.com/speakers/8153-distrubutor-velodyne-subwoofer.html. Sometimes local dealers have lot of confusion on warranty terms and service which only distributors can clarify. Similar happended for me in case of my Aviano speakers by Morduant Short and I was benefitted by contacting the India distributor directly.
