Videocon D2H HD No 5.1 Sound

Hi Guys,

I have a videcon D2H HD i hooked onto it seeing the no of HD channels they provide and with a assumption that they will move to 5.1 sound.
I have been checking with the Vediocon D2H team, as to when they plan to upgrade the sound to 5.1, but i am not getting any distinctive answer and they always keep on telling that they are in some process and we should get the 5.1.

I have been hearing this for almost 6 months now.

Anyone of you who is a D2H owner and sopken or has any update a to when this upgrade will happen.

Hi,

I am using Videocon d2h HD. From September there are providing 5.1 dolby digital sound, it is through spdif out. Connect a coaxial from spdif out of set top box to coaxial in of home theatre. This will solve your issue. As of now they are proving 5.1 sound in 10 HD channels

If they have just started support for 5.1 audio, it's good.........high time they do it!!! can't have HD broadcast without 5.1 audio.

No buddy...I am not sure if i missed any settings in DTH :sad:.. Are you sure you have been getting 5.1 out from Videocon DTH HD ? Because i have been using since Mar'12.

As far as i know they have been broadcasting HD channels in Stereo mode....

If you are getting 5.1 Sound, Can you tell me what settings should i change in the DTH Menu ?

When you are viewing the Star Movies HD or Movies Now HD.

Click the "i(info)" button and click on the yellow button, then change the audio source and you can see the dolby sound there and select it.

Or else in the setup of the dth change to homecinema.

Yes I remember now when I had sound problem with HD channels couple of weeks back I spoke to the customer care and they told me that they are updating some software for 5.1 channel and hence there might be some interference now and then with the sound output. The executive visited my place and clicked on the "i" button and he showed me that there is a new item to select which is Dolby Digital. But was not sure when this is going to happen. So at last this update has come. Good for people who like to watch the HD channels in 5.1 audio.

Thanks for the info, was holding on to buying it because of lack of 5.1 sound.

Can you please tell me which 10 channels are getting 5.1 sound ans also is is true Dolby sound or pseudo dolby.

In case of HD DVR box dolby digital is available via hdmi also...so no worries.

Between Tatasky, Airtel and Videocon, the 5.1 sound output is best in Tatasky and Airtel (especially the star movies channel). I'm not sure the same could be said about Videocon as they seem to sound like pseudo 5.1 sound. This is my opinion after I heard all the three. Don't know about dish since I have not heard it.

when i changed the setting of my stb from stereo to homecinema audio from ngc hd history hd etc stopped coming...there were a few more HD channels as well...
but i got audio from star plus hd and all sports channels hd..
also is it necessary that even if u get the option of dolby digital the audio had to come or will it still depend on content??
also i'm getting that option on HDMI as well

i think support thru hdmi is only from the dvr not the normal HD box???
