Videocon D2H HD No 5.1 Sound

videocon hd box provides dolby sound through spdif. but dvr provides through hdmi

Hi... But the Vidocon service people whom I spoke told me that even their hd DVR gives 5.1 DD sound through SPDIF only..... I asked her twice and she said that's what they have been told..... Do u own one ??

HD STB-->only via spdif.
HD DVR STB-->via hdmi, optical, spdif.

I got the HD box installed. How can I know if I am getting 5.1 audio? I did connect with SPDIF.

Copying from my post in the first page :

When you are viewing the Star Movies HD or Movies Now HD.

Click the "i(info)" button and click on the yellow button, then change the audio source and you can see the dolby sound there and select it.

Or else in the setup of the dth change to homecinema.

I did try it before but for some reason I don't get any of those options..

edit: sorry i tried again but this time i did get the option. default is english, then second is dolby.

Also do i have to keep switching everytime I change a channel? I tried on other channels and when switch back it reverts to default.

Also how can i enter setup like you mentioned? It asks for some code.

Can anyone using D2H DVR with south platinum package confirm if DD 5.1 is provided ?

In the DVR I've set audio settings to 'home cinema' and language to 'dolby digital' yet I only seem to get PCM stereo signal on my Onkyo receiver. I'm connecting the DVR and receiver through optical cable. Also tried connecting the optical out on my TV to the receiver but same result - no DD 5.1; only PCM stereo.

I read somewhere in this forum that Videocon DVR supports 5.1 through hdmi so try it.

I got demo thru videocon D2h guys in only I but it was showing only PCM but my hd box was showing dolby symbol

I find this thread today only. I have also held back my decision to buy videocon. So in this pursuit i called customer service and they told me that, all of their Non - hd channels are now 5.1, and HD channels are 7.1.

Any body who is already having videocon, can you pls confirm? or check if you can by any means?

they are simply lying...7.1 sound!!!!!
also sd channels are 5.1......how can they say these
or they are mis informed..the box may be capable of 7.1 via hdmi but 7.1 hd channel is impossible

Sun Hd sound is not great so not bothered on that.
