yes dino i have connected hd dvr hdmi out to tv hdmi in..then optical out of my tv to optical in of home theater and selected dolby digital by pressing yellow button.still only stereo sound and i have latest software download id 44.

^^ As far as I know this won't work. The TV will always downmix 5.1 audio from hdmi to 2.0 through optical out. You should connect the hdmi directly to AVR.

Just go to box settings and sect the option of home cinema for sound, u will automatically get dolby sound for all hd chs which have dolby sound and there is no need to manually slect dolby option from language button of remote. Do this if u have home theater connected, if u have normal tv connected for sound then select the stereo option

There is an issue with 500 GB DVR box. It reset sound option and come to default home channel the moment you turn off the box.

I have got this confirmation from D2H technical team too.

My download id is 43 and I am getting DD audio.

What is your tv model no?

my download id was 43 but it wasnt giving dolby so he updated to 44..my tv is samsung led f5100.

Change audio output settings to Home cinema-->connect HDMI cable straight to TV input from STB-->Go to Star movies HD-->Select the audio to DD(if by default it's not DD)-->Check whether your tv has a button to check the input signal information like input video signal resolution 1080p refresh rate 50hz and audio is dolby digital.

I am quite sure that your TV is downmixing the tracks to 2-channel stereo via optical out.

No you don't need an avr..at the time of taking picture my avr was in stand by mode..it's simply passing through the signal received from STB.
Optical & coaxial both work for me but I use HDMI only.

My question was to confirm DD by displaying the signal info in tv(STB-->HDMI-->TV)..if you have that signal info option..

btw why am i not getting dd from optical out of dvr box, the engineer updated software and also changd the box but no success.anyway thanks for ur help.

Did you try connecting optical out of STB directly to the optical input of HT instead of using the TV optical out?
