Usually if there is a surge, the home load distribution box (LDB) should trip the individual MCB or the mains.
These surges normally happen when mains power comes back on.

That is a current surge in the main CB that won't harm your equipment. what harms is the over voltage - I won't call it a surge since it is sacrilege in EE parlance to call anything that is not in microseconds i.e., steep wavefront a surge

You can also have a look at other far better option of static stabilizer. It corrects the fluctuations in milliseconds & is completely noiseless because of the solid state arrangement.
