VU meter

Hi all, I'm always a fan of something that have analogue VU meter and sit on my desk while my music is on. But that sort of amps are way out of my budget. I found some DIY stuff on eBay but too bad that I'm not good at electronics and don't know how to assemble it all and how to fix it in the chain. From where I can seek help? here's the link:-
