Guys, I had to stop watching it to share it with you... it’s that rare and good! These are episodes from Deepti Naval and Vinod Pandit’s travelogue in the Kumaon and Gadhwal hills of Himalaya back in the 90s which was never released. Deepti has decided to share them on her YouTube channel, an episode at a time (there are six episodes in all). She announced this on her Instagram page today. The first episode is already uploaded.

Now, here’s a celebrity/actress whom all of us have nothing but love and admiration for. She is a creative person too (writes stories and poetry) but more importantly doesn’t carry the air of a celebrity. You’d find the travelogue fresh and relatable as a result. As a bonus, you’d find a lot of other goodies by Deepti on her channel. Enjoy it!

Update:

Finished watching the episode and writing this update. It is beyond expectations. Most striking aspect is the narration - listening to Deepti describe her observations and reflections of the sites and monuments they visit is like listening to her reciting a poetry. And she does that too, from time to time! Guys, it’s a rich experience and in less than half an hour there are three-four ‘dil ko choo jane wale’ instances. Also her English is rich and impeccable.

She was in a relationship with Vinod, her co-traveller and producer at that time so this also feels like an intimate travelogue of a couple, the chemistry is evident, though underplayed on screen.

Give it a try and you’d thank yourself.

A pleasure!

watching this right now on youtube, very good episode. Love the venturing out and exploring the unknown locations in our Dear India.

Yeah. And as they venture out and explore, she ventures inwards and explores too.

This poignant and insightful mountain documentary is one of the best I have watched on youtube....
