Dear FM,

Please share your views on Warfe 10.1 vs MA BR1 for NAD/Marantz entry level stereo integrated amplifier.
Also suggest any other good bookshelf for NAD/Marantz entry level stereo integrated amplifier.

Depends on your taste. Recently I auditioned these. I found BR1 to be blander and punchy and having less color than Wharfes. 10.1 are more balanced, less in the face, more musical. BR1 on the other hand might have more punch, bass & maybe more revealing than 10.1. I believe BR1 might be better for metal/rock.

Any other books: PSB B15

Can you also help me choosing Marantz 5004 vs NAD316BEE + best bookshelf to pair with?

I am afraid I am not the perfect audiophile to answer this. But if my rapidly degrading memory serves me right, NAD is more bass heavy. Marantz is more warm and mid-centric. NAD goes with PSB better and Marantz goes with Wharfes.

How good is PSB alpha B1? Can it go well with indian amplifiers like norge or warfe/polk TSI200 is better choice for norge 1000 gold?

I would go with Marantz 5004. For best bookshelf .... It really depends on your budget.

It is hard to go wrong with Marantz + Wharfedale combo. It is a sheer musical combo.

Better options can be suggested if you can figure out the budget you have allocated for the bookshelf speakers.

Dr. Sunil

I need a small stereo setup for my study room, i never play music loud. Initially i thought of getting a small stereo syatem (like norge2060 + Md.75 BS), approx 16-17 K.
Then after reading reviews and hearing norge 1000 at my friend's place, i decided to get a norge 1000 amplifier + warfe/polk/norge BS, steretching it to 25-30K.
If i go for marantz 5004, again i will have to add 5K atleast more to get an entry level BS.
I don't want to spend much on amp+BS as i might have to go for CDP as well. Currently i have sony DVD player, cannot say about the SQ as compared to others.
Please suggest the best as per requirement/limits.
Thanks.

Ok ... If I were you I would have gone for the system building in phases ....
Phase 1 --- Get Amp + Speaker.
Phase 2 --- Get CD Player or a DAC (if you want to continue using your Sony DVD)

Go for Marantz 5004 and Wharfedale speakers ... Even though it will make you stretch a bit on budget, they will be better partners for a long time to come. Additionally, Marantz can be sold easier for later upgrades.

Thanks Dr Sunil, i am planning to do the same. I am trying to get warfe 9.2 :)

Both BR1 & BX1. They sounded very offensive to me. Absolutely hated their signature. Full of zest and energy. I dont want that. I want something pleasing yet detailed in mids. At the same time, I dont want something with rear ports.
