wharfdale diamond 8.3

Hey All,

Managed to score a pair of these. Great condition. Paid 8.5k. Good deal???

That's a pretty good price you paid for the 8.3s. I am in the process of buying a used Wharfy 8.2s in 8k (including shipping).
Try out filling these floorstanders with sand and post lots of pictures.

How do you fill them with sand? I know I read a similar suggestion elsewhere. I have a 10mm slab of granite under them right now. The levels on the amp are all flat and the sound is quite "bright" and "wholesome". Should I be looking at re-inventing the wheel???

Fill in the sand in many cloth sacks and place them inside the enclosure. That will give much "weight" to the sound, but if you are already enjoying the sound then no need of doing these tweaks. These tweaks gives eternal pleasures to the extreme DIY'ers who wants to shape their sounds their own ways.

I also own the 8.3. I experimented with both sand and cotton(cotton from old pillow-errr 6 big pillows). I felt it was much better with the cotton. The Bass was more tight with cotton filling. However please be a little carefull with removing the rear plug. It would be a little difficult. And needless to say removing the sand once filled is a messy affair, more so for cotton.

Happy listening..
Cheers

Old Man Moss says; fill sand/cotton in plastic satchets and then cloth bags. But I'm happy with the bass response. If anything, I need to cut the bass to -2 on the amp. It's the highs that I need to pump. Will look at bi-amping them and a possible change in amp. Any suggestions on the amp guys???
