Always wondered why amplifiers cost much more than a receiver and what the use of amplifier when receviers even can amplify sound??

As its name suggests, an amplifier simply amplifies an input. A receiver is usually an amplifier with an in-built radio frequency tuner that can receive AM and/or FM frequencies.

search the forum please and DO NOT start threads un-necessarily. Once you have searched and are convinced that you cannot find the info then you can post your query.

His question is different from the title..
"Why are amplifiers costlier than receivers when receivers also amplify?"

I dont know if amplifiers of the same brand are costly..
But if yes, I too want to know why. It doesn't seem right?
